GW went all in again on preview reveals for Christmas 2024 with the return Daemon Primarch Fulgrim for Warhammer 40k!
Updated December 25th, 2024, by Rob Baer with new information and links to relevant content.
The holiday season isn’t just about gift-wrapped surprises under the tree—it’s also the perfect time for Warhammer fans to unwrap some epic new previews.
Based on last year’s buzz and the whispers about potential 40k releases, it looks like Games Workshop is ready to deliver some festive treats again this Christmas.
From jaw-dropping models to exciting teasers, here’s what you need to know about the Warhammer Christmas Day Previews for 2024 and why they’re shaping up to be a big deal for hobbyists everywhere.
Slaanesh’s Fabulous Flex: New Fulgrim Primarch Model
Perhaps the most exciting—and most highly speculated—new Christmas preview was Fulgrim, the Daemon Primarch of the Emperor’s Children.
If there’s one thing Fulgrim knows, it’s how to make an entrance. When a Primarch decides to go full Daemon, you can bet it wouldn’t be subtle.
Fans have been clamoring for a plastic Daemon Fulgrim model for years, and now Games Workshop has created what could be one of their most impressive models to date.
A Look Back & A Peek Ahead
In the Warhammer Community article from December 22nd, Games Workshop seems to have confirmed at least one new preview on Christmas Day:
“Over on Warhammer Community we’ve got new instalments of the Old World Almanack now that the Empire have their moustaches waxed and weapons sharpened, a discussion on the new Squats, and of course there’s something to look forward to on Christmas Day…”
It’s that magical time of year when snow falls, lights twinkle, and Warhammer fans collectively hold their breath for Games Workshop’s holiday reveals. So, what might this year hold for your favorite army?
Let’s revisit last year’s three explosive previews and see if we can piece together the clues for what’s next under the Warhammer Christmas tree.
The holiday season is here, and for Warhammer fans, that often means more than just presents under the tree—it’s time for Games Workshop’s annual festive reveals. Last year, GW went all out, dropping not one, not two, but three major previews over the holiday period.
With tantalizing teasers for Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, and The Old World, they left fans buzzing well into the new year. But this year, with three canceled previews along with the canceled advent engine, it’s hard to say “if” there will be as many as three previews in store for us at Christmas.
But as everyone agrees, things are changing with Games Workshop. Here’s a rundown of what we saw in 2023 and what it could mean for this year’s possible announcements.
2023: A Feast of Previews
Last Christmas, Games Workshop turned the holiday spirit up to 11, serving fans a veritable banquet of miniature magic. It wasn’t just a sprinkle of teasers or a token model or two—no, this was a full-on avalanche of reveals that had hobbyists frantically checking their bank balances and reconfiguring their display cabinets.
GW Reveals New Belial & Deathwing Assault Army Launch Box Last year’s reveals felt like an avalanche of new models and updates. For Warhammer 40,000, the centerpiece was the unveiling of a new Belial miniature and the Deathwing Assault Army launch box, breathing new life into the Dark Angels’ iconic Deathwing.
Three silhouette teasers followed, hinting at future models for Orks, Custodes, and Kroot—each sparking endless speculation.
Age of Sigmar fans weren’t left out, with GW teasing five miniatures that showcased the diversity of the Mortal Realms. Nighthaunt, Slaves to Darkness, and others hinted at a blend of spectral menace and chaotic brutality, setting the tone for 2024.
Meanwhile, The Old World made a triumphant return with launch boxes for the Tomb Kings and Bretonnia, two beloved factions that hadn’t been seen in action for years. Coupled with rulebooks and new sculpts, it felt like Christmas truly had arrived for fantasy fans.
Finally, the Horus Heresy line continued its forward march with Solar Auxilia miniatures and a Command Squad that had every collector scrambling to clear shelf space.
What We Know is Coming in 2025 (So Far)
Given last year’s reveals, we should be bracing for another exciting holiday season. Yet, with GW’s schedule shifting in 2024 to fewer release dates and more pre-recorded updates, the landscape feels unpredictable.
A whopping 17 codex releases for Warhammer 40,000 are expected by the end of 2025, and many of the models teased earlier this year—like the Death Korps of Krieg and Eldar—still haven’t materialized fully.
For Age of Sigmar, the focus seems to be leaning toward Destruction and Death factions heading into 2025. Could we see a big splash from Gloomspite Gitz, Soulblight Gravelords, or even some long-requested updates to forgotten factions?
The Old World, too, has plenty of room to surprise, but we have recently seen tons of Empire models revealed.
Plus, the lineup of the first Empire Warhammer The Old World Releases has been leaked (on accident by Games Workshop). You can see them here, but they will be officially previewed soon…
Latest Roadmaps & The Christmas 2024 Preview
If the latest 10th Edition 40k Codex Roadmap is any indication, a whopping 17 upcoming Warhammer 40k codex books will be released by early 2024-25! Best of all, we just saw plenty of Astra Militarum and Eldar.
Now it’s time for some Emperor’s Children models as well!
Battletomes Roadmap Heading Into 2025
With the new Warhammer Age of Sigmar edition now available, it’s prime time to map out what’s next. It seems Destruction and Death will steal the spotlight early in 2025, with at least a couple of battletomes on the horizon, along with new models for the next “season” of Age of Sigmar.
Empire, High Elves, & Chaos Release Dates
The Empire is putting on its marching boots, the High Elves are up to their usual tricks, and Chaos? Well, it’s just being its chaotic self, making mayhem wherever it can.
The Old World is about to get a serious makeover, thanks to the new release roadmap packed with tons of Warhammer miniatures set to drop in the coming months.
The Unpredictable Element
One thing’s for certain: GW knows how to keep fans guessing. After canceling several planned announcements earlier this year, it’s hard to say whether this Christmas will bring a flood of reveals or just a well-timed tease. The lack of clarity only heightens the anticipation.
Whether you’re hoping for new minis, updated battletomes, or just a chance to speculate wildly with friends, one thing’s clear—this Christmas is set to be another major moment in the Warhammer calendar.
