GW Reveals 7 New 40k Death Guard Rules!

death-guard-wal-hor-titleWith the codex coming soon, GW just released a set of seven new 40k Death Guard rules for seven units – check it out!

The Death Guard is finally up for release so it only makes sense we get the sacred number of rules just before they come out! As today on Warhammer Community, they gave us another wave of rules to get people excited about the codex as we head into the pre-order window.

All the 40k Death Guard Rules so Far

GW has covered everything from army-wide rules to individual units, now let’s dive into the new rules!

Mortarion’s Warlord Traits

Mortarion rules

Mortarion rules 2The one thing left out of the datasheet they released earlier was his Warlord Traits, well, he’s getting a ton of them! Okay three, actually, and he’ll always have, and then he can also choose whichever Plague Company trait another warlord does not currently have.

Mortarion Warlord traitsThey don’t tell you what the revoltingly resilient rule is, but it seems like an even better disgustingly resilient rule. They also stack somehow because he has both traits, something like reducing the damage and then get an FNP possibly. Looks like he’ll be harder than ever to kill, and potentially still re-rolling wounds with Arch-Contaminator…

Poxwalkers

Poxwalkers DatasheetWith the Poxwalkers are not really getting many advantages from Disgustingly Resilient, they had to get some buffs to stay relevant. Now they always hit on a 4+ now (doesn’t matter how many are in the squad) and have toughness 4. On top of that, they will be going down in points as well  (they were listed as 5 ppm in the latest FAQ). Looks like you’ll be able to swarm the board more with them than ever before.

Tougher Death Guard Chaos Lords

Death Guard IconWhile originally they had more in common with their unblessed peers among the Traitor Legions, now both Chaos Lords and Sorcerers of the Death Guard have Toughness 5, Contagions of Nurgle, and Disgustingly Resilient to better fit into your armies.

All we have to say is… finally.

Warlord Traits

Warlord TraitsHalving the move of a unit can be pretty nice, especially later in the game when the aura is quite large. You can also mix this with the Relic to give an objective the Contagion rule and make it harder for your opponent to actually capture it on those later turns. The other one is also nice, it will let you bypass those annoying cover rules! This isn’t game-changing but when it is pretty cool.

Deathshroud Terminators

Deathshroud rulesThey are getting an additional movement, so they won’t be left in the dust anymore. On top of that, they have 2+ WS now and two profiles for their Manreapers. Just note, if you choose the heavier attack they will be hitting on 3’s again. However- if you just need to mow down infantry, you’ll be able to be doubling the number of attacks.

Make Your Army Look The Way YOU Want With These Bits & Kits!

Custom Contagions for Crusades

Custom contagionsAn all-new suite of Crusade rules will take your campaigns of corruption to new heights, with wonderfully thematic Battle Traits and Requisitions to upgrade your units. Of particular note, is the ability to craft and customize your own bespoke Plague to spread among your opponents’ armies. By randomly determining a Vector, an Infection, and a Terminus, you can bring all sorts of unholy effects to bear upon your foes.

Foetid Bloat-drones New Fleshmowers

FleshmowerNow if you equip them for close combat they will actually do something! With 12 attacks hitting on 3’s and since they went down a wound, they won’t degrade. Also with D2 and AP-2, they may be quite good at killing Marines. If you can get a couple of these into combat with a Primaris unit, they could kill the entire unit.

We don’t have too much longer to wait now! But it’s always fun to see new rules.

Which of the new rules is your favourite? Are you excited for their release?
