There are only a few more codexes yet to appear for Warhammer 40k, and we know Space Wolves and Orks are next in line. However, 2018 still looks to be chock full of more hobby releases from Games Workshop.
Games Workshop has already told us a lot of what’s coming throughout the rest of the year, so we went back and compiled all the new release information and rumors into one post.
The following is a compilation of what we know is on the way so far, and when we think we can expect to see it based off official announcements and rumors.
Now that we are moving into August, we can see what’s next on Games Workshop’s agenda.

2018 New Release Roadmap
With datasheets for using your Forge World Adeptus Custodes, an expanded list of units for the Grey Knights, and rules for using your Sisters of Silence as a standalone army, this book is going to be a treat for Imperium players .

Prior to 2017, there was always a 40k Imperial Armor released late summer (technically they followed this pattern last year with the Index: Imperial Armor) and a new Horus Heresy supplement around the holidays, which still happened of sorts with the new red book update.

New Orks & Space Wolves Rumors: 2018 Release LATEST
The latest on Space Wolves & Orks was spotted in a forum on B&C. A user by the name dropped a rumor. He didn’t say where he got the information from so be sure to take it with a heaping side of salt. We have heard from industry sources Orks will be first out of the gate around the end of August / September 2018.
I am 99% sure that the SW codex will be pre order 25th August, no confirmation on any SW kits coming. Same weekend will see Hobbit/LotR battle of Pelannor fields box game up for pre order. No I will not be revealing where this came from but it’s not from BoLs or FLGS or any of the usual rumour mongers.
Of course, others chimed in on the thread and gave some more ideas on what could be coming.
My guesstimate places wolves either Aug 25 or Sept 1st for preorders.
If all that’s preorderable same weekend is hobbit stuff, odds are good there will be space wolf kits
Expect to see wolves teased/showed off, same with orks at warhammer fest on Aug 18. Me thinks
Some Talk of Orks
As for Orks, there wasn’t much mention on their codex. But, people are lining up current events in the lore to what may be coming for them on the tabletop. Toaae on the same forum had this to say:
It’s true to the fluff that following centuries of combat against the Tyranids on Octarius, the Orks coming out of that conflict would be massive.
I just hope they don’t try to replace boys or move them to 32mm bases. I’m down for new units, though. But this is just speculation, and it is typically at this point that these threads get shut down.
Again, some people are claiming to have sources but won’t reveal any information. Others are taking educated guesses. We won’t know for sure until we see it unveiled later in the year. Get ready for an exciting month ahead because this could be when we see all these rumors come to pass.
No matter what game you play, there’s exciting releases underway for everything Warhammer.
