After last weeks new product reveals for every one of their main product lines at GAMA last week, and rumors swirling about new 40k Primarchs and Chaos, what will Games Workshop preview at Adepticon tomorrow?
First GAMA brought us news of new Necromunda, Shadespire, Blood Bowl, 40k Kill Team and Idoneth Deepkin (Sea Elves) for Age of Sigmar.:
Kill Team
Welcome back, Kill Team!
This new edition gives you everything you love about Warhammer 40,000, in less time and in less space. Using deep rules for squad customisation and specialists, you’ll be able to assemble an elite team from any faction you choose and pit them against your foes in fast-paced tactical skirmishes.
What’s more, Kill Team will be released alongside a new war zone’s worth of modular battlefield terrain designed by the same team who brought you the Sector Mechanicus kits.
Kill Team is making a return in a big way! This is going to be a great way to get those Warhammer games in when you don’t have time for a full match. Not to mention it’s being dropped alongside a slew of new terrain designed by the same team who made the Sector Mechanicus kits.
Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire
Meanwhile, in the City of Mirrors, two new Warhammer Underworlds warbands will be joining the fray:
Magore’s Fiends are a hard-hitting pack of Khorne-worshipping Blood Warriors, while the Farstriders combine the stalwart durability of their kin in Steelheart’s Champions with the elite training and ranged wargear of the Vanguard Chambers. Both of these warbands will be out soon, with a range of new cards, new mechanics and new tricks for every player to try.
We got our first look at these two new warbands in the Shadespire rulebook, and it looks like they’re finally on their way!
Khorne and Stormcast Eternals are each getting a new warband for Shadespire providing even more model options. Anyone looking for their lost Khorne puppy?
Necromunda
In another underworld – this time, the squalid underhive of Necromunda– the latest gang has arrived…
The Van Saar are the latest classic faction from Necromunda to be revamped, featuring new wargear and some of the deadliest weapons the underhive has to offer. You won’t have to wait too long for these guys – or their rules – to land, so stay tuned!
This lines up perfectly with what we reported from the 40k Open day back in November:
First off news from the floor that gangs will be releases roughly once per quarter starting with Orlocks in February of 2018, in better Special Character releases (Similar to Blood Bowl).
- Q1: Orlocks
- Q2: Van Saar
- Q3: Cawdor
- Q4: Delaque
Blood Bowl
Less subtle (but no less violent) are Blood Bowl’s latest team – a pack of killers for whom touchdowns are a mere distraction from the “true” heart of the sport – namely, giving praise to the Dark Gods and seeing how many enemy players you can slay before you get sent off.
The Doom Lords combine the speed and ferocity of the Beastmen with the martial might of the Chaos Chosen to create one of Blood Bowl’s most dangerous teams. You’ll be able to grab these guys alongside Spike! Magazine – a new supplement for Blood Bowl that’ll feature rules for new teams, Star Players, columns from Agony Uncle Lord Borak and much more.
Are you looking to add a little more violence to your next Blood Bowl match? Well, it looks like you won’t have to wait long, the Doom Lords will be on their way soon!
Age of Sigmar: Idoneth Deepkin
Last, but very far from least, the time has nearly come for all to be revealed.
They’re coming – get ready.
And then we had the big juicy new 40k Primarch and Chaos Rumors that have been rumbling through the internets over the last few weeks that are summed up here:
All of the previous stuff I sent in is still a thing.
In the near future Games Workshop has a release arc planned that fans will be happy to hear about.
We’re going to be seeing the return of some noteworthy Primarchs. Fulgrim, Lion El’ Johnson, Angron, and Leman Russ will all be getting models for 40k.
There’s a new campaign that will be coming our way, along the lines of the Gathering Storm series, with a little bit of Imperial Armor thrown in for campaign missions.
It looks like Chaos might be seeing some updates for different armies. It will be similar to how DG got troops, elites, and a handful of specialties.
The latest devolpment to all of these is that it looks like the rivlaries are going to be changing a bit in 40k. The new planned rivalries are going to be Ultramarines v Death Guard, Dark Angels v Emperors Children, and Space Wolves v World Eaters. I imagine this is going to be a shock to some people.
We should start seeing the announcements for these starting in the near future.
Remeber last year at GAMA we saw the unveiling of the Kharadron Overlords with their subsequent release in the middle of April 2017, and then teasers about the new Death Guard models, and tons of Shadespire demos and open play months before their release in early and late Fall 2017.
So what do YOU think we’ll see at tomorrow’s big preview event? Whatever it is, knowing Games Workshop, it’s going to rock!
