Games Workshop just gave us a huge preview of what’s to come, and it looks like we’re going to be seeing new releases for their major lines: 40k, Shadespire, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, and Age of Sigmar!
The GAMA Trade Show is currently underway, running from March 12th through the 16th, and Games Workshop has had a bunch of big reveals coming out of it so far. Let’s take a look at what they had to say about upcoming releases for Kill Team, Shadespire, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, and a new faction for Age of Sigmar.
Kill Team
Welcome back, Kill Team!
This new edition gives you everything you love about Warhammer 40,000, in less time and in less space. Using deep rules for squad customisation and specialists, you’ll be able to assemble an elite team from any faction you choose and pit them against your foes in fast-paced tactical skirmishes.
What’s more, Kill Team will be released alongside a new war zone’s worth of modular battlefield terrain designed by the same team who brought you the Sector Mechanicus kits.
Kill Team is making a return in a big way! This is going to be a great way to get those Warhammer games in when you don’t have time for a full match. Not to mention it’s being dropped alongside a slew of new terrain designed by the same team who made the Sector Mechanicus kits.
Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire
Meanwhile, in the City of Mirrors, two new Warhammer Underworlds warbands will be joining the fray:
Magore’s Fiends are a hard-hitting pack of Khorne-worshipping Blood Warriors, while the Farstriders combine the stalwart durability of their kin in Steelheart’s Champions with the elite training and ranged wargear of the Vanguard Chambers. Both of these warbands will be out soon, with a range of new cards, new mechanics and new tricks for every player to try.
We got our first look at these two new warbands in the Shadespire rulebook, and it looks like they’re finally on their way!
Khorne and Stormcast Eternals are each getting a new warband for Shadespire providing even more model options. Anyone looking for their lost Khorne puppy?
Necromunda
In another underworld – this time, the squalid underhive of Necromunda– the latest gang has arrived…
The Van Saar are the latest classic faction from Necromunda to be revamped, featuring new wargear and some of the deadliest weapons the underhive has to offer. You won’t have to wait too long for these guys – or their rules – to land, so stay tuned!
This lines up perfectly with what we reported from the 40k Open day back in November:
First off news from the floor that gangs will be releases roughly once per quarter starting with Orlocks in February of 2018, in better Special Character releases (Similar to Blood Bowl).
- Q1: Orlocks
- Q2: Van Saar
- Q3: Cawdor
- Q4: Delaque
Blood Bowl
Less subtle (but no less violent) are Blood Bowl’s latest team – a pack of killers for whom touchdowns are a mere distraction from the “true” heart of the sport – namely, giving praise to the Dark Gods and seeing how many enemy players you can slay before you get sent off.
The Doom Lords combine the speed and ferocity of the Beastmen with the martial might of the Chaos Chosen to create one of Blood Bowl’s most dangerous teams. You’ll be able to grab these guys alongside Spike! Magazine – a new supplement for Blood Bowl that’ll feature rules for new teams, Star Players, columns from Agony Uncle Lord Borak and much more.
Are you looking to add a little more violence to your next Blood Bowl match? Well, it looks like you won’t have to wait long, the Doom Lords will be on their way soon!
Age of Sigmar: Idoneth Deepkin
Last, but very far from least, the time has nearly come for all to be revealed.
They’re coming – get ready.
The Idoneth Deepkin looks like it’s going to be one of the big reveals at Adepticon this year, which will be taking place next week. This might just explain the teaser video we saw a couple weeks back.
An image from the Daughters of Khaine battletome surfaced alluding to the rumored Sea Elves from all the rumor engine posts and teasers from Games Workshop.
With some additional details for us from Reddit:
“Is a complete new line like kharadrons Underwater aesthetic mix greek atlanteans and eldar corsair. They have been hiding in underwater cities and have control over some sea fauna, water and mist. I cannot be more specific but the apparently reason for being hiding is that they hides something in secret. Beautiful models, same size that blood bowl elven union and some models have great potential for conversions into custom exodites”
“The new aelf range are Mathlann followers”
“Atlantean aesthetic, some are very similar to Kairic Acolytes with Spite-Revenants face, anothers looks a lot more eldar – Mistweaver Saih are part of the range.”
About the glub glub video “This is an actual piece of scenery GW is going to sell, and that will have its own rules like the Sylvaneth Wyldwood. It’s part of the entire Sea Aelves new range, which are absolutely stunning visually, will have tons of sea creatures to ride, one of which is MASSIVE, and unique high cost heroes with crazy design. Also forget about the Cthullu look, their design is closer to Atlantean Spartans.”
Also according to the fluff that the Warhammer Community Team covered in their live streams:
Teclis’ first enclave were called the Idoneth – although they disappeared, and future projects proved better.
It looks like it’s going to be a busy year for all games coming out of Games Workshop, and we can’t wait to find out more. Make sure you’re checking back in with us all next week as we bring you coverage and updates from Adepticon, there’s sure to be a lot more information on the way.
