BREAKING: Adepticon 2020 Has Been Canceled

space marine wal hor tourneyThat’s right folks, Adepticon 2020 has been canceled. Here’s the latest on their announcement about COVID-19 and the event.

The Adepticon team isn’t blowing off the growing concern for the Coronavirus (COVID-19). With people set to travel from every part of the globe to spend nearly a week under one roof with thousands of people, there was, of course, some degree of risk involved.

The convention has been canceled as of 6:04 pm EST March 12th, 2020.

BREAKING: Adepticon 2020 Has Been Canceled

Adepticon has announced the following:

Since the very first AdeptiCon, held eighteen years ago, we’ve made it clear that the highest priority, in any consideration, would always be the attendees. Over the years, we have done our best to be loyal to this principle. With our incredible staff, volunteers, organizers, and instructors, AdeptiCon has been proud to host our annual hobby celebration with a continued emphasis on creating an amazing experience for our attendees. It is with that priority in mind that we have decided, after many hours of internal conversation and consultation with the venue, hotels, and various local authorities, that the health and well-being of our attendees and the public must come first. While we continued planning and did everything in our power to see AdeptiCon run as normal, we are now following both government guidance and our own judgment concerning the COVID-19 virus in canceling the 2020 convention scheduled for March 25th-29th.

We understand that this will impact all of you. It also impacts our exhibitors, staff, the venue, and the local community. It is not a decision we have made lightly; it is a decision based entirely on keeping people safe and healthy. It goes without saying that no one is more heartbroken about this situation than the AdeptiCon team. We look forward to seeing all of you every year, sharing our love of the hobby and revisiting friendships cultivated over years of the convention.

The AdeptiCon staff is already vigorously working on details around issuing requests for credits/refunds, the handling of prepaid merchandise, badge upgrades and other related items. We will provide to our attendees and exhibitors final plans to address the unprecedented circumstances that the COVID-19 virus has thrust upon us by April 15th or sooner. Your patience is appreciated during this time as we finalize the necessary details and logistics.

It is important to understand that the AdeptiCon team remains committed to this event. With your help, we will be able to return to providing you with the greatest tabletop gaming event experience around. We are very determined to see AdeptiCon return, thrive, and run long into the future. And we will remain focused, as always, on our most important priority, the attendees.

Sincerely,

AdeptiCon Staff

Adepticon 2020 New Release Previews & More

Space Marine walpaper Warhammer Community had promised two hours worth of preview content but that will likely be on hold and potentially rescheduled for a different venue/ announcement format.

Some hints have already been announced at what could be coming in case you missed it.

We’ve also got a roundup of what was previewed last year if you forgot.

  • It’s the Biggest Warhammer Preview… EVER!
More of you will be able to attend this Warhammer Preview live than ever before… but that’s not the half of it. We have so much cool stuff to show you in this preview that it’s going to Blow. Your. Mind.
  • So. Much. Stuff.
There is SO much new, shiny excitement to cram into this preview that we reckon you’ll have two hours of new Warhammer coming at you. You might want to take notes so you remember it all at the end – and bring snacks!
  • It’s For Every Warhammer Fan
The seminar will include some big news for Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000 fans. There’ll also be news from our other Warhammer games, including Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress and Warcry.
  • It Goes Beyond the Tabletop
This Warhammer Preview will include a look at some of the exciting ways you’ll be seeing Warhammer on your screens soon. In fact, you’ll be the first people in the world outside of the creators to see some of this!

Ultimately, it looks like GW is checking all the boxes on this one. With tabletop coverage confirmed on AoS, 40k, Blackstone Fortress and Warcry, we know this is going to be good. But on top of that, they mentioned: “seeing Warhammer on your screens“…Which could be, but certainly not limited to some kind of long-developed video game or even that movie on Inquisitor Eisenhorn we heard about a while back. Who knows maybe even Angels of Death

So more to come from both Adepticon on the logistical side of things regarding re-scheduling and any potential refunds, as well as Games Workshop on said previews as well.

What were you looking most forward to at Adepticon this year? Will you be back for 2021?
