Games Workshop has just revealed its latest pre-orders this week for Warhammer The Old World, featuring the Storm Dragon and more for Cathay, and what may just be the final Legions Imperialis releases.
Here’s the full lineup, and our thoughts on all the new products that are hitting pre-order this week.
The Storm Dragon Descends In Games Workshop’s Fantasy Worlds
It’s a big week for fans of tiny wars, plastic dragons, and resin monstrosities. Whether you’re building an empire, blasting fortifications, or launching trolls at walls, there’s plenty to throw on your hobby pile.
These products will be available for pre-order on Saturday, August 23rd, with a shelf release date of Saturday, September 6th, 2025.
If you’re still waiting on something to hit pre-order, be sure to check out the latest new release lineup in our updated Warhammer Roadmap for 2025.
New Warhammer The Old World Pre-Order Releases
Gather ’round and ready your wallets because it’s time to revisit the battle-scarred world of Warhammer: The Old World! These new products may be your golden ticket to glory.
Arcane Journal Dawn of the Storm Dragon
This new 48-page supplement drops a healthy mix of lore, rules, and campaign tools. Inside are background notes on Cathay’s ties with the Old World, a new Jade Fleet Army of Infamy led by Miao Ying, shiny magic items, and rules for multiplayer games.
Players even get a fresh set of linked scenarios to keep their narratives rolling.
Miao Ying the Storm Dragon Cathay Pre-Order:
Whether she’s wielding sorcery or taking to the skies in her immense dragon form, she’s a nightmare for anyone in her path. The plastic kit offers both her human form and her colossal draconic self, perfect for intimidating enemies before the dice even hit the table.
Jade Warriors
The kit gives players 20 models, enough for two smaller units, plus a heap of customization options, male and female heads, accessories, and a massive transfer sheet with 404 decals for those who like their armies dressed sharp.
Jade Lancers
Jade Lancers thunder across the battlefield with long spears and the kind of discipline that makes holding a charge look effortless. Built for speed and precision, this kit makes 10 riders with flexible command options. Naturally, another bumper set of transfers is included.
Grand Cannon & Fire Rain Rocket Battery
The kit can build two of either option, or one of each, complete with crews and even an Ogre mercenary drafted in for the heavy lifting.
Northern Provinces Transfer Sheet
Style points matter. The A4 transfer sheet packs 261 full-color and metallic decals, from banners to cloak trims, letting Cathay players fly Miao Ying’s colors loud and proud.
Preyton
Once a proud Great Stag, the Preyton now stalks prey with twisted antlers and a stomach-churning level of malice courtesy of Beastmen corruption. Forge World’s resin kit brings this corrupted beast to life, with rules found in the Beastmen Brayherds Arcane Journal.
New Legions Imperialis Pre-Order Releases
The latest pre-orders for Horus Heresy: Legions Imperialis are here, and you’ll once again be commanding iconic legions and seriously devastating war machines- all on an epic scale!
Liber Strategia Legions Imperialis Pre-Order
Legions Imperialis players get a hefty update with Liber Strategia, a 240-page tome crammed with updated detachments and formations. Everything from Legiones Astartes to Dark Mechanicum is covered, with Knight Households replacing the old Strategic Asset rules.
It’s basically the reference book everyone needs if they’re serious about the game, complete with fresh content for new units.
We think these may be some of the final releases for Legions Imperialis, as we discussed in a recent editorial here.
Mastodon Super-heavy Assault Transports
The kit builds two of these steel monsters, customizable with lascannons, heavy bolters, flamers, and a skyreaper battery. Transfer sheets round things out for those wanting Legion markings across every panel.
Cerberus Heavy Tank Destroyer Squadron
Armed with a neutron laser battery from the Dark Age, these tanks don’t just punch through armor, they fry whatever’s left inside. The set makes four, with loadout options and a generous decal sheet for finishing touches.
Typhon Heavy Siege Tank Squadron
Need something leveled yesterday? The Typhon is your rolling siege cannon. Equipped with a dreadhammer, it rolls into contested zones and blasts fortifications apart. The box builds four tanks, once again offering weapon choices and plenty of transfers.
Vindicator Siege Tank Squadron
Compact but deadly, Vindicators carry demolisher cannons that chew through buildings and armored units alike. Perfect for urban fights, this set provides eight of them, plus enough decals to mark a small fleet.
Whirlwind & Scorpius Missile Tank Squadrons
Artillery support comes in the form of Whirlwinds and Scorpius tanks. Both can cover the battlefield in explosives, but where Scorpius rockets pierce armor, Whirlwinds excel at flushing infantry out of hiding. The kit has four of each, along with another loaded transfer sheet.
Order Tokens & Objective Markers
Keeping track of orders and objectives just got cleaner. This set of 92 tokens covers movement, charges, and fallback maneuvers, plus six markers to track objectives labeled A through F.
Formation & Datasheet Cards
Liber Strategia’s support crew arrives as three separate card packs, one each for Legiones Astartes, Solar Auxilia, and the Mechanicum. Each deck includes formations and detachment upgrades for quick reference during games.
New Middle Earth Battle Strategy Game Pre-Order Releases
The latest Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game releases are almost here! Packed with stunning miniatures, powerful heroes, and enough tactical options to keep you strategizing for days, these pre-order goodies are the perfect way to kick off your next adventure in Tolkien’s legendary realm.
Gundabad Catapult Troll
When Azog wants walls broken, he sends in Catapult Trolls. These trolls haul massive catapults on their backs, launching devastating payloads before smashing enemies up close with brute force. This Forge World resin miniature doubles as a walking siege engine and an Independent Hero.
War Drakes of Rhûn
Rhûn’s war drakes aren’t sleek fliers but heavy-set brutes that fight alongside Easterling armies. Strong jaws, venomous fangs, and an appetite for paralyzed foes make them terrifying battlefield additions. This Forge World resin kit brings two of these monsters to the table, ready to bolster the Dragon Cult or march with the Host of the Dragon Emperor.
Final Thoughts From Us
This week’s Warhammer lineup is doing everything but showing restraint. Cathay’s Storm Dragon looks like a showstopper, the Legions Imperialis range might be heading into its final lap, and even Middle-earth brought out the heavy hitters.
