Games Workshop is giving us another teaser from the Chaos Daemons codex. Come take a look at some of the rules for the Nurgle Daemons that were just spotted!
Games Workshop has already previewed some of the new Chaos Daemons codex and today we’re getting a closer look at the Nurgle Daemons. Let’s check out some of their new rules and see how they may affect the Nurgle Daemons in the Death Guard book.
If you missed the other Daemon rules from this week catch up on them before we roll into jolly ol’ Nurgle’s:
- Daemons of Tzeentch
- Khorne Daemons
- Daemon Rules Rumors (more confirmed in this post)
Nurgle’s Daemons are getting similar treatment, with army abilities, Hellforged Artefacts, Stratagems and new units of their own.
Nurgle will be getting the Locus of Virulence which will be doing an additional 1 damage on a wound rolls of a 6+ for friendly Nurgle Daemon units within 6″ of a model with this ability.
The new Stratagem, Plague Banner, is going to cost you 1 CP and is used before the battle. You’ll choose one of your Nurgle models with a Daemonic Icon and that icon is upgraded to a Plague Banner. In addition to its normal ability you’ll be able to use the power of the banner once per battle, just before the bearer’s unit fights. It increases the Damage characteristic of all plagueswords carried by the bearer’s unit to 2 until the end of the phase.
Keep Counting! Meet Your Quota! adds 1 to all hit rolls made for Plaguebearer units within 6″ of one or more friendly models with this ability. Hit rolls of 7+ for a Plaguebearer within 6″ of one or more friendly models with this ability will generate an additional attack against the same target with the same weapon. Those additional attacks cannot generate any further attacks.
Beast Handler is going to allow you to re-roll failed charge rolls for friendly units of friendly Beasts of Nurgle that are within 6″ of Horticulous Slimux, and add 1 to all hit rolls made for friendly Beasts of Nurgle within 12″.
Seed the Garden of Nurgle is a new ability for Hoticulous Slimux that is going to keep you Nurgle army constantly growing. However, he cannot use it if he performed a Daemonic Ritual that turn. At the end of your Movement phase you’ll be able to add a new Feculent Gnarlmaw to your army that contains 1 Feculent Gnarlmaw. It gets set up within 3″ of Hoticulous Slimux and more that 1″ away from any other models and terrain features.
Shroud of Flies is going to give your Nurgle Daemon units (except Vehicles and Monsters) the benefit of cover for being completely within 7″ of any Feculent Gnarlmaw. You’ll add 2 to their saving throws instead of 1. Rats no using this for the majority of Death Guard goodies.
Nurgle Daemon units within 7″ of any Feculent Gnarlmaw will benefit from The Plague Bells Chime. This will let them shoot and/or charge this turn, even if they Fell Back or Advanced. That rule may have some application for the Daemon units inside the Death Guard book for sure.
Horn of Nurgle’s Rot can only be taken on Nurgle Models. You’ll roll a D6 each time the bearer kills an enemy model in the Fight phase while it’s within 7″ of one or more friendly units of Plaguebearers. You’ll then be able to add a single Plaguebearer model to one of those units on a 4+.
These new rules are making Nurgle seem like they are going to be an army to be feared on the tabletop. But will it be enough as more codecies start getting released? Only time will tell.
There’s a total of 24 Strategems in the new codex, so we’re curious to see what Games Workshop will show us next. Make sure you’re checking back in with us for the latest updates.
What do you think about the latest Nurgle Daemons teaser? Are you going to be cleaning the dust off your Tzeentch with the release of the new codex?
