Many new paints come and go but Scale 75 has remained consistently on top of the game the past few years. Take a look at their amazing line of paints!

These are top-shelf paints, each bottle comes sealed, you will need to punch them with a thumbtack or pin to get them open.  The whole line is formulated like nothing you have seen before, super matte paints really blend well through both an airbrush, and with a normal brush!

In this review, we show you how to paint these silvers in golds on our Custodes Knight model.

The Scale 75 paints come in multiple options, including a 48 paint set and metal tray, or individual sets in different themes. Each box comes with directions on how to use the paints themselves. The smaller sets start at around $29.99 and can go up to $35.99.

The 48 paint set comes with a sturdy metal tray. The paints themselves are sealed and will need to have the top medium drained out, similar to the Army Painter excess medium.

Painting With Scale75

Using the gold paints, they paint on super smooth with easy strokes. Starting with Viking Gold, using a small brush, the paint is easy to apply. Next, Dwarven Gold is worked into the tops of the swirls to add light reflection and extra shine as a smooth highlight that sits well on top the first coat. Elven Gold is used next to fill in the final bits, adding more highlight towards extreme edges.

The Alchemy paints that come with each set change the properties of the paints and create a different color hue entirely. Using Citrine Alchemy, and applying to the extreme edges, the paint now appears much brighter. The Alchemy line can be mixed into the other paints or applied over other paints directly, depending on the effect you are going for.

The Scale75 paints work well in the airbrush as well, with the addition of a little Flow Improver. The biggest key to airbrushing with these paints is keeping the mixture within the pot consistent. If it starts to separate, stop spraying and remix the paint to maintain the even, milky consistency. The same layering effect works, including the Alchemy paint, which is also maid to airbrush. The Alchemy paint is a little more watery than the others, so keep an eye on consistency and allow the paint to dry as needed while layering.

For the body of the Knight, you can base coat with Black Metal via an airbrush, especially when basing over black primer. This will bring up a smooth transition from the black primer to the metallic shine of silver. Heavy Metal will be the highlight color, hitting the raised area of the body to apply nice highlights to exposed exoskeletons. White Alchemy is mixed in next to hit the edges and raised portions to apply a nice, bright highlight.
