We had been hearing rumors of Grots since September, and now it looks like they are about to roll out from Games Workshop. Plus if the rumors are to be believed, new Chaos, Genestealer Cults, Primaris 2.0s and more may be headed our way in 2019.

Official previews for whatever GW has planned release wise for 40k and Age of Sigmar will be here soon at thier big New Years open day on the 5th but until then check out the latest compilation of rumors and previews on what may be on the horizon next for the Warhammer Hobby!

Games Workshop has already told us a lot of what’s coming for the rest of 2018, so we went back and compiled all the new release information and rumors into one post.

The following is a compilation of what we know is on the way so far, and when we think we can expect to see it based off official announcements and rumors.

++ This is not an official release schedule, so make sure you add salt for the release timeframes that have not been confirmed yet. ++

GW’s 2019 Rumors & Release Roadmap LATEST

There are only a few more codexes yet to appear for Warhammer 40k, and there is plenty of time for something BIG to hit in 2019 from Games Workshop.  They were also heard saying that the new year would bring some totally new factions to the hobby as well, on their new company produced podcast.

2019 Q1

It looks like Grots er Gloomspire Gitz may be first out of the gate for the new year, and hobbyists seemt to be all aboard this tiny green skin hypetrain already.

Games Workshop has been pulling out all the stops on these guys here lately with videos and talk of what’s to come. Check out the latest in-depth peek at what’s ahead for the Gloomspire Gitz.

We had also been hearing of “odd-pairings” of factions in sets that could range from starters to Kill Team box sets heading into the new year. We have already started to see some of this with the Wake the Dead, and the Wrath & Rapture box set.

Either way, it looks to be a win for hobbyists!

  • Look for Box Sets to line up with Codex releases.

Rest of 2019

Chapter Approved contained Sisters of Battle Beta rules as a means of allowing the community to playtest the faction. They want Sisters of Battle to be done right after years of hearing fans request for Power-armored Sororitas!

Speaking of the Imperials and Sisters, still on deck from Forge World is the Talons of the Emperor supplement that was previewed earlier in 2018 and said to still be coming for Warhammer 40k:

Prior to 2017, there was always a 40k Imperial Armor released late summer (technically they followed this pattern in 2017with the Index: Imperial Armor) and a new Horus Heresy supplement around the holidays, which still happened of sorts with the new red book update. There were however no such updates in 2018 as they seemed busy setting up new warehouses in other countries and subsequently raised their prices 20% or more overnight.

So out the gate, at least rumor wise, Games Workshop’s release schedule may be jam-packed for the months ahead. Be on the lookout for more and more previews to come as we see more from them on their New Year’s Open, and Horus Heresy Weekend.
