space-marine-terminator-walTerminator squads are back in 9th Edition 40k, so here are our picks for some of their top models out there that you can grab for your collection.

We’ve just seen the updated profiles that look to be coming to Terminators in 9th Edition. They were already seeing play in tournaments but now they’re getting buffed wargear and three wounds. Riding the wave of Terminators being good again, here are some top Terminator-pattern models you may want to grab for yourself.

5. Tartaros Terminators

Kicking off our list of The Top 5 Terminator Models in 40k we have the Tartaros.

When you think of Terminator armor, you think of a slow, grinding advance. However, the Tartaros Terminator armor is the lightest class of tactical Dreadnought armor out there. This armor dates back to the Horus Heresy and is a great option for armies that need speed without sacrificing protection. The Tartaros Terminators have some streamlined angular plates to help deflect blows and they also are just as fast as any other Space Marine Infantry unit with a 6″ movement.

Like all other Terminator squads, they’ve also got access to a pretty wide range of wargear. One of the coolest options they have is an assault 2 plasma blaster for the sergeant. You can pepper a squad with a little bit of plasma and rush in with some lightning claws as a one-two punch combo.

4. Cataphractii Terminators

Cataphractii Terminators are for the people that like to go for all-out tankiness. These guys have a 2+ Save like all other Terminators, but sacrifice an inch of movement for a 4++ invuln. You throw these guys in some cover for a thick 1+/4++ and these guys will be super hard to uproot. They’ve also got some armor dating back to the Horus Heresy and even have some sweet shoulder and waist tassets for flair.

3. Captain Lysander

lysanderIt’s pretty well agreed upon that the scariest Terminator is one with a thunder hammer and storm shield. A 2+/3++ body swinging with multiple 3-damage attacks has to be dealt with. But when you put that wargear on a character, you get Lysander. His model is coated in purity seals and other details that really make this model stand out from other Terminators. As one final cherry on top, he’s got a S10 thunder hammer that has no negative to hit.

2. Asterion Moloc

asterion molocPrepare for glory! Asterion Moloc of the Minotaurs is a model that we can’t leave out. There’s no other model even remotely close to him. The best thing to compare him to is a Custode in all honesty. This guy is a part of a Forge World Chapter called the Minotaurs which are pretty much grimdark Spartans. He’s got a 3++ invuln as well as a weapon called the Black Spear that loves to taste the blood of enemy characters.

1. The Space Hulk Dead Terminator

If you’re a Genestealer, you’d agree that the only good Terminator is a dead one. Well, there’s a model out there of exactly that. This dead Terminator from the old Space Hulk board game is one that’s too cool not to mention. He doesn’t do anything in 40k (cuz he’s dead), but the model is so unique we have to include it.

Honorable Mention: Space Marine Heroes Series 2

space marine heroes 2These Terminators are from the blind buy series 2 of Space Marine Heroes. These are all sold as “characters” but don’t have unique datasheets in 40k. With that said, each one of these models is super dynamic and can be easily used to add a little spice to an existing Terminator squad.

You may not have realized it but GW has shown a lot of love to Terminators over the years! With the new rules and datasheet update coming in 9th Edition, they may be giving Primaris a run for their money.

Which Terminator 40k models would you put at the top of the list? Do you use the Space Hulk Terminator as an objective on the tabletop?
