Big Beast Snagga Army Box & Orks Codex Reveal!

If you love Orks, they are finally grabbing their new minis and codex! The faction will be coming with a limited release box with all the new minis and even an early release of the codex.

Beast Snagga

Beast SnaggasThe Beast Snaggas are some of the fiercest Orks ever to live! They go out and hunt the biggest and meanest thing the enemy has to offer. If you want to do some serious Krumpin, these are the boyz for you!

Beast SnaggasThere will be 26 new minis along with the new codex, including 20 boyz, 3 riders, a Nob on Smasha Squig, Zodgrod Wortsnagga, a little bomb grot. They will all come in a limited release box that has early access to the codex. But again, they are going to sell out in seconds we imagine. The codex will be released on its own, but not for a little while after.

Beast Snaggas

Beast SnaggasThe new minis definitely look sweet and will add a ton of flavor to any Ork army! They didn’t release much in the way of rules other than that they are stronger than regular Orks and will have bionic upgrades.

New Characters

Beast SnaggasThis is character is making a return after 20 years! He is a master of Grots everywhere and will have a special rule to upgrade one unit of them at the beginning of the game. This will give them better shooting and make them hit harder in CC. If you love Gretchin, this guy is a must-have.

Beast SnaggasThis mini is going to be bigger than a Terminator, “normal” Nobs, and most characters. Even the Ork on the back by himself is extra-sized, then you add the Squig height on top of that! This new unit will also have bonus effects when charging, but they didn’t say exactly what.

Beast SnaggasWhile not part of the Beast Snaggas, they finally made a mini for the Warboss in Mega Armour! It looks amazing and even has a little Grot shooting his gun for him.

New Beast Snagga Army Box & Codex

Beast SnaggasAs we said before, this codex is going to be released after the box on its own. So hobbyists that wanted the new rules as early as possible, had to buy the limited edition box (aka Sisters, and Lumineth Realm-lords).

Beast SnaggasThis box will come with every new mini for the Orks minus the new Warboss. Almost more importantly, it will give early access to the codex!

Orks Beast Snagga & Beastboss: Unboxing & Build

The Orks Beast Snagga & Beastboss have arrived at the studio- check out Rob’s unboxing and thoughts on the releases!

We’re back unboxing the new big releases for the Orks and Beast Snaggas! Rob sees what it takes to get them ready for the tabletop, shows the size of the models, and tells you the GOTCHAS to be aware of when building them!

We are going to show you everything including the sprues, bits, and of course, the size. That way you can decide if this is worth your hard-earned hobby dollars.

beastboss unboxing 2We’re going to start with the Beastboss who runs $35.

beastboss unboxing 3He’s not quite as big as the Mega-Boss that comes in the combat patrol. This is multipart, but it has one pose. Still, the detail looks great on the sprue.

beastboss unboxing 4There are a decent amount of parts, with his head being three different parts, multiple arm options, and just stuff everywhere. So while nothing is too crazy, there are a ton of little parts.

beastboss unboxing 5

beastboss unboxing 6Overall he is a great-looking mini with plenty of detail, all the gaps were hidden pretty well and is dynamic. He pretty much only can be put together in this one pose, but they left plenty of room for cool paint jobs and give you all kinds of Orky bits.

beastboss unboxing 7He’s about the height of a Primaris but obviously far CHONK-ier. Pretty much exactly on par with what we would expect.

Beast Snagga Army Box

Well, unfortunately, these were insanely allocated, and even online it was near impossible to grab one when they were first released. But there’s an odd chance your LGS still has one. The main reason is new minis, plus early access to the codes which really bumped the value.

Values Updated For Orks Release In September 2021

  • Zodgrodd Wartsnagga – $40 (based on new Space Marine Characters)
  • Squighog Boyz – $60 (includes Nob on Smasha Squig & Bomb Squig)
  • 20 Beast Snagga Boyz – $100 ($50 for ten)
  • Codex: $50
  • Datacards: $25

Total MSRP: $275

Total Value: $75

Basically, you get around $75 in value.

The Box, Codex & Cards

Beast Snagga box 3The layout of this box is one of the better Rob’s seen so far. The artwork in here also might point to new DKoK Death Riders, so be sure to check a deeper dive into that, in this article here.

Beast Snagga box 4The new codex is really nice and is 135 pages (over half rules) with a nice homage to the 4th edition codex at the end.

Beast Snagga box 5The cards are a nice addition, but everything is the same on the back until you get to the psychic cards.

Instructions & Sprues

Beast Snagga box 6There’s a bunch of different sizes of bases, so be sure to check the reference in the front before building anything. These aren’t ETB, but they are Easier to Build with nubs and such.

Beast Snagga box 7The Beast Snagga Boyz don’t have a ton of variety but they look easy to build. It’s just two sets of the same sprues with one option for their main weapons.

Beast Snagga box 8The Warboss has a decent amount of variation, with a couple of different poses and some extra bits.

Beast Snagga box 9The sprues look very dynamic, but there will be some flash and trim removal. Zodgrod takes up a whole sprue and has a lot going on.

Beast Snagga box 10The Squighog Boyz are set up very similar to the Outriders, but they are not ETB. You get three squad size sprues for just these alone. Rob recommends dry-fitting all of these because there are a lot of bits.

Beast Snagga box 11The Boyz get 5 models per sprue because there’s not really much variation and only one option for the main weapons. They are super detailed though.

Built Minis

Beast Snagga box 12Zodgrod is pretty chonky on a 50mm base! Overall the detail is super crisp and he strikes quite the pose on the tabletop.

Beast Snagga box 13

Beast Snagga box 14He stands about as tall as a Primaris but much wider. Compared to a Guardsman, he just towers over the poor shovel lover.

Beast Snagga box 15The Boyz went together without much issue, they are very well detailed and the seams are pretty hidden. Just remember, there isn’t much variation and that is the main knock on them.

Beast Snagga box 16The scaling seems really good when compared to the Primaris.

Beast Snagga box 17

Beast Snagga box 19The Squighog Boyz look great, but they are a decent amount smaller than Rob expected. Rob also recommends building these with Blue-Tac so you can paint them separately.

Beast Snagga box 18They aren’t that much taller than a Primaris, but the Nob is much bigger and is actually on a bigger size base, so pay attention to that and don’t mess that up.

Final Thoughts

beastboss unboxing 2Overall this is an interesting path to market the Orks. They paywalled the typical greenskins into the combat patrol and then came out with the Primarisesque version of the Orks as the separate releases. The Beast Snaggas are definitely cool, but as always, vote with your hobby dollars!
