RUMORS: New Battlefleet Gothic Could Still Happen This Year

gothicJust because Battlefleet Gothic didn’t show up at Warhammer Fest, doesn’t mean it’s still not coming this year.

There was a mystery logo on the big reveals during Warhammer Fest and people got pretty excited for a possible revamp. Obviously, it turned out to be AoS 3.o, but again that doesn’t mean it’s over for the game.

AOS 3.0When you consider most new rules editions like AoS or 40k come out in the summer, we still have about 6 months left for releases (not to mention the big Black Friday release slot). There have been rumors floating around for the last couple of years that BFG is coming back. Not to mention they’ve kept online versions of the game running as licenses sell for video games every year. They have been coming out with a lot of stuff for Aeronautica and the minis are of a similar size so design-wise they are feasible again in plastic, so why not?

They have really also been upping their box games, so it could make sense that they would bring back this epic game. If you played back in the day, it was really cool, and fun on its own or bring together a giant campaign.

Rumors: Battlefleet Gothic Could Still Happen This Year

black friday sales games workshop holidayWe think Black Friday would be a very possible release date for the game. As they usually like to do something big then. While this isn’t confirmed, it would make sense. There has been talk for years now that the game is going to make its triumphant return. If they did bring it back, we assume it would already have to be in production, because you know they don’t like to bring games back without a ton of new minis.

And with GW bringing the old style of Fantasy back (but perhaps not in the same scale), it seems they are willing to bring back games when people want them, eventually… But again, they like to release big main line rule sets in the summer and it’s just barely started, so BFG fans, don lose faith!

An Older Hint

When Warhammer Community posted a video on their Facebook showcasing their new “winged hammer” look. In the video, they mount the new logo on a billboard full of other titles they support and are currently in production. We’re talking about games like Warcry, Warhammer Underworlds, Titanicus, Kill Team, etc.

The video initially looks like just a cool way to advertise their new “all-encompassing” Warhammer logo, but is something more going on here…

But in all of those signs, there were two that stood out like a sore thumb.

gw hiddenSee the Battlefleet Gothic sticker hidden in there? While this could have just been them talking about consolidating all of their lines, it could mean this has been in the works (that we know of) since April 8th, 2019…

The Golden Demons are returning in 2022 at Adepticon, and Blood Bowl just got an update. So now perhaps it’s Mordheim and or BFG’s time to shine again!

What is Battlefleet Gothic? (BFG)

If you’re newer to the tabletop gaming scene, you might have only heard of Battlefleet Gothic on the PC. While it’s still being supported in the form of online gaming, the tabletop version hasn’t been touched on in a while. However, it used to be really popular back in the day!

gothicIf you’ve seen the PC version played, you’ll know it has to do with huge ships from all kinds of factions blasting each other apart in deep space.

The tabletop version was just like that as well!

Do you think we could see Battlefleet Gothic return this year? Would faction would you play if they came out with a rework of the game?
