Squidmar Finds The Best Gold Paint For Miniatures

Best Gold PaintStarting out, he’s going to paint them all with the airbrush and brush on the same mini and then do a blind test at the end. That way he cannot pick something he’s familiar with. Let’s get into the paints!

All the Paints Being Tested

Best Gold Paint 2

Best to Paint with a Regular Brush: Pro Acryl Rich Gold/ Green Stuff World’s Pure Metal Pigments Gold

Best Gold Paint 3Pro Acryl and Green Stuff World Gold took the spots for best to use with a paintbrush! So if you’re primarily hitting gold with a brush, be sure to grab some of this stuff!

Best Through an Airbrush: Citadel Retributor Armour

Best Gold Paint 4He was very surprised but this, but it came out on top in the blind test. So if you want to get your gold applied through the airbrush, this is the way to go!

Top 3 Overall

Best Gold Paint 5

  • 3rd- Scale 75 Dwarven Gold it worked great in both the airbrush and with the paintbrush, so worth picking up for either application.
  • 2nd- Pro Acryl rich gold slightly edged out the Scale 75 paint, but works great for basically anything, much like all of their paints.
  • 1st- Green Stuff World’s pure metal pigments gold really took them by surprise. It just looked amazing at every angle and almost won both of the blind tests!

That does it for this test, but the top 3 were really great! The P3 paint was a little different than the rest but is darker, so could make for a great gold base coat or shadow.
