GW may have revealed a new Chaos Space Marines Daemon Engine recently- checkout what was hidden in plain sight…
It wasn’t that long ago GW actually did the exact same thing with Vigilus art and Chaos releases. The last time they actually put three new minis into the art and then we saw them come out over about the course of a year from the picture.
In a January Warhammer Community article, they revealed even more new art and what may be another Deamon Engine! Let’s first look at how they previewed the minis last time, then see what’s hidden in plain sight this time!
Old Hidden In Plain Sight Reveals From Vigilus
Technically the Sorceror and oblits had already been revealed before this art. Then we saw the Dark Apostle next, and it wasn’t on anyone’s radar until this. Lastly, we then saw the Lord Discordant previews later on keen hobbyists remembered he was first spotted off in the distance of this piece of art as well! Neat! So that means the Daemon Engine might be a little ways off. T
We used to assume that all of these depictions of units and characters were just for art in general. However in this day and age, it seems like GW doesn’t put resources to creating artwork anymore with things that won’t actually have a release in the game for the most part!
Take for instance this Kill Team art that shows what we assumed at the time would be new Eldar Rangers, which have been previewed coming in the Eldrich Omens box set now.
The other interesting thing about the first example was that the art was for Chaos, and it was set in Vigilus! Speaking of which…
New Chaos Daemon Engine Hidden in Plain Sight
In a Vigilus background article about War Zone Nachmund, GW revealed the full art of the Space Marines codex cover with the following description:
On the fringes of the Vigilus Sector, the Ultramarines rooted out a force of Black Legionnaires and Daemon Engines known as The Daemonkin, whose abhorrent flesh factories were in the process of creating Noctilith Crowns – devices that would soon be used by Abaddon the Despoiler to infuse Vigilus with the corrupting energies of the warp.
Another piece of the puzzle is that this is from the events in the Shadowspear box, which debuted some of the models in the first piece of art above and was centered around Daemon Engines…

Do you notice anything strange in the upper right corner of the picture? Much like the Lord Discordant, it’s not the most defined picture but look close…
Could that be a totally new Daemon Engine? Much like the Lord Discordant “reveal”, it’s hard to make out a ton of details, but it looks huge if nothing else!
Keep in mind too, the recent preview from GW could also support this (or even another) new Daemon Engine.
This image resembles the Maulerfiend’s weapon, which further supports the argument this is really a new mini hidden in plain sight.
Backing up the Daemon Engine idea, we’ve got more chaos-y metal and exhausts that you’d see on top of such a construct along with these armor plates a frame later.
