New Games Workshop price increases are starting on November 23rd for what may eventually be a large number of products.
This is a developing story as two sets of price increases are being reported, with one already confirmed by Games Workshop.
Hobbyists started noticing a policy change banner on Games Workshop’s webstore on November 19th, 2022. At the same time, some retailers in the United Kingdom posted both screenshots and text copies of what appears to be an upcoming price increase by Games Workshop for their retail costs to stores.
New Games Workshop Price Increases Are Here
It is confirmed that free shipping minimums to customers ordering from the Games Workshop webstore are increasing in price from $32 to $65 on Wednesday, November 23rd, one day before Thanksgiving.
Orders under $65 to residential addresses will now cost $10 to ship. Price increases vary from country to country so check the Games Workshop delivery details page here to see what the new minimums are locally for you.
Our Delivery Terms Are Changing
From the 23rd of November our standard delivery terms are returning to pre-pandemic levels.
This means in order to be eligible for Free Home Delivery your order must total $65 or more. Home deliveries under $65 will cost $10.
In addition to price increases for shipping minimums, in the United Kingdom, several retailers are reporting that they were informed by Games Workshop of an upcoming 5.8% increase in costs to trade accounts.
Remember that this is not an increase to the suggested retail price consumers pay; it is to the price retailers pay to buy Games Workshop products for resale.
Elysium Wargames confirmed this message in a Tweet, and Harlequins Preston had the text version of the same message posted on their Facebook.
The last line seems to indicate a pivot that many retailers may have to make very soon to maintain profitability, which ultimately means that consumers themselves will still end up paying more at the register regardless…
Obviously, if true, another price increase on all paints and plastic boxes will mark the second such increase this year alone, as we saw prices jump significantly already on over 3000 items in February of 2022.
It’s also important to note that these reports of increased costs to retailers are currently being reported in the UK only.
Furthermore seems that the only actual price increase, so far, affecting consumers in the United States is for minimum order sizes from the Games Workshop online store. However, that could change when business with retailers resumes on Monday, November 21st.
