Did someone say Die for the Emperor? Come see the coming that’s taking the 40k world by storm: Eagle Ordinary!
Hello Spikey Bits! We are Eagle Ordinary, a Warhammer 40k fan comic, about very ordinary Astra Militarum Imperial Guardsmen, and the many extraordinary things that try to kill them. We met Rob and the Spikey Bits crew at Adepticon 2016 this year, and Rob graciously offered to have us on the blog! He’ll be featuring our comic on Spikey Bits every Saturday.
We’re avid players of the tabletop and video games set in the 41st millennium, but this story is actually inspired by a game of Only War, FFG’s Imperial Guard RPG. For those who don’t know, Only War gives players the opportunity to step into the shoes of a fierce, noble and perhaps even competent Imperial Guardsman, to seek adventure and get eaten by exotic life forms, with plenty of chances to bayonet stuff along the way! Below: a standard game of Only War, in progress.
The campaign ended a few years ago, but Kaiser, our artist, was inspired to share the story and put pen to paper. She asked the GM and her fellow players to help her write it, and here we are, 40 pages later. The comic’s story line is based on the events of the campaign (with some edits- certain shenanigans were too absurd for reproduction, even by us). The characters are based on the PC’s of the campaign, alongside the major NPC’s. For extra info on the cast, you can check out our character page, complete with 8-bit renditions of the protagonists.
