The Betrayal at Calth was an amazing release that ushered in a huge influx of Heresy players to the tabletop, both new and old. Fast forward to now and we have their individual releases available for the first time.
At first look it a great way to pick up the new units a la carte, but when you start stacking up multiple kits at the register you may just want to buy look at buying the Betrayal at Calth box set instead.
Here’s how they compare to the current pricing of the latest releases for the Space Marine line in 40k:
- Space Marine Heroes $50 Compare to: Terminator Clampack $33 + Sanguinary Priest (chaplain) $33
- Cataphractii Terminators $65 Compare to: Blood Angels Terminator Squad $60

So overall pretty close price point wise. However smart money is on just picking up the Betrayal at Calth box set to bundle in the savings:

Space Marine Heroes $50
This box set contains the parts necessary to assemble a Terminator Captain in Cataphractii Armour and a Chaplain , adding a touch of Horus Heresy-era class to your Space Marines army! Includes a transfer sheet, a Citadel 32mm Round base and a Citadel 40mm Round base.
Cataphractii Terminators $65
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble five Cataphractii Terminators, with a huge array of weapon options; combi bolters, power fists, lightning claws, heavy flamers and chain fists are available. Supplied with a transfer sheet and five Citadel 40mm Round bases.
Mark IV Space Marines $50
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble a ten-man Space Marines Tactical Squad in Mark IV power armour, with an impressive selection of armaments including bolters, missile launcher, heavy bolter, chainswords, power swords, power fists, plasma pistols, lightning claw blades, combi flamer, melta and plasma guns, a melta bomb and a set of combat blades! Contemptor Dreadnought $60

Overall the new release is solid offering for one off buys, but it’s a no brainier to scoop up the Betrayal at Calth box for any larger hobby needs.
Plus multiple Industry Insiders have told Spikey Bits that GW has no plans to discontinue the venerable box set either. So look for continued good deals for at least the foreseeable future on the Horus Heresy!
