Games Workshop dropped their first official Forge World FAQ today for Chaos and Adeptus Astartes for 8th Edition Warhammer 40k!
Is it time to revise how your playing 8th Edition? Games Workshop has players covered this week with FAQs for Forge World Imperial Armour first Index books:
With the Forge World Imperial Armour indexes out for a couple of weeks now, players have had a huge range of units to add to their games of Warhammer 40,000, and we want to make sure that every army benefits from these books. Today, we’re releasing FAQs for Imperial Armour – Index: Forces of the Adeptus Astartes and Imperial Armour – Index: Forces of Chaos.
With this FAQ, you’ll be able to add a variety of Forge World models to your armies for the World Eaters, Death Guard, Thousand Sons and Emperor’s Children Legions. Similarly, we’ve reworded the Relic rule so that Adeptus Astartes armies can use the Thunderhawk Assault Gunship and other super-heavy vehicles found in the book (although we can’t attest to the practicality of turning up to a 1,000 point matched play game with a Mastodon Heavy Assault Transport).
We’ve also made clarifications for several other units, so including Forge World models in your games should be easier than ever – check out the full FAQ here:

Imperial Armour – Index: Xenos and Imperial Armour – Index: Forces of the Astra Militarum can expect to see FAQs of their own soon; in the meantime, keep sharing your feedback with us (or just let us know about any of the cool ways you’ve been including in your Forge World models in your games of Warhammer 40,000!).
UPDATE : Our top picks for both books.
At first glance this FAQ seems to be a great resource for Chaos players more than the Imperial ones. Here’s our top picks for the latest update to 8th Edition:

Q. Are there any restrictions on which Legion I can choose when replacing the Faction Keyword on datasheets within this book?
A. Yes, as follows:

You can only choose for a unit to be from the Thousand Sons Legion if it has the Tzeentch keyword, or if it has the keyword and you choose to replace that with Tzeentch. You cannot choose for a Hellforged Rapier Battery, a Chaos Hellwright or a Chaos Hellwright on Dark Abeyant to be from the Thousand Sons.

You can only choose for a unit to be from the Emperor’s Children Legion if it has the Slaanesh keyword, or if it has the keyword and you choose to replace that with Slaanesh.
