Total War: Warhammer II is now available! Come take a look at the latest announcement from Games Workshop, as well as a video of the gameplay.
Games Workshop was pleased to announce the upcoming release of Total War: Warhammer II, and even gave us a look at some of the new factions that are going to be included in the new game. Let’s see what they had to say about the new game, and a look at some gameplay footage that was spotted on the Total War Youtube page.
The time to take the New World by storm and claim the powers of the vortex for your own is almost upon us. Playing as one of 8 Legendary Lords across 4 iconic races from the world of Warhammer Fantasy Battles (or the World That Was to you Warhammer Age of Sigmar fans), players must succeed in performing a series of powerful arcane rituals in order to stabilise or disrupt the Great Vortex while foiling the progress of the other races. Each Legendary Lord has a unique geographical starting position, and each race offers a distinctive new play style with unique campaign mechanics, narrative, methods of war, armies, monsters, lores of magic, characters, and staggering new battlefield bombardment abilities. On the 28th of September, those powers will be under your control.
Millennia ago, besieged by a Chaos invasion, a conclave of High Elf mages forged a vast, arcane vortex. Its purpose was to draw the Winds of Magic from the world as a sinkhole drains an ocean, and blast the Daemonic hordes back to the Realm of Chaos. Now the Great Vortex falters, and the world again stands at the brink of ruin. Powerful forces move to heal the maelstrom and avert catastrophe. Yet others seek to harness its terrible energies for their own bitter purposes. The race is on, and the very fate of the world will lie in the hands of the victor. The second in a trilogy and sequel to the award-winning Total War: Warhammer, Total War: Warhammer II brings players a breathtaking new narrative campaign, set across the vast continents of Lustria, Ulthuan, Naggaroth and the Southlands. The Great Vortex campaign builds pace to culminate in a definitive and climactic endgame, an experience unlike any other Total War title to date.
Four legendary races await your command in the New World. Which of these esteemed empires will you grow under your watchful eye?
High Elves
Table of Contents & Article Summary showThere are few sights more glorious than an army of High Elves. Serried ranks of white-garbed soldiers take to the field alongside proud knights, mighty mages and ancient creatures of legend. The High Elves are an elite force who, warrior-for-warrior, can outmatch almost any other race. Over the long millennia of their existence, they have mastered every style of fighting; whether you seek phalanxes of spears, unstoppable cavalrymen, dead-eyed archers or peerless charioteers, you will find them here.
Dark Elves
The Dark Elves are voracious raiders who ply their bloody trade across the length and breadth of the world. They take whatever they want and will gladly risk their lives for the promise of glory, power and riches. All Elves are taller than humans and of a slender but strong build. They are long-limbed and graceful, with slim, adept fingers. Their eyes are large and oval, containing a disturbing, otherworldly wisdom that unnerves other creatures. For the Dark Elves, a cold beauty masks the natural attractiveness of their race and a scowl or sneer often mars the pale skin of their elegant faces. They are, for the most part, dark-haired and sinister, and their bleak stares convey nothing but contempt.
Lizardmen
Once, in a long and forgotten age, the Lizardmen ruled over it all, dominating this ancient world during an age of primeval monsters. Although their realm is now partly in ruins and overgrown, they seek once more to rise up and reclaim that which they lost many millennia ago. While the task at hand remains near impossible, the Lizardmen still fight on, unleashing their cold-blooded savagery upon any who would stand in the way of their sacred mission.
Skaven
The Skaven, sometimes known as ratmen, ratkin or the Children of the Horned Rat, are a malevolent and diabolical race of large humanoid rat-creatures that inhabit a massive inter-continental underground empire known in their tongue simply as the Under-Empire. At the very heart of Skavendom lies the horrific city of Skavenblight, their capital city and the probable birthplace of the Skaven race. The Skaven as a whole are a cruel, treacherous and highly numerous species that spread their loathsome corruption to the farthest corners of the world.
All four of these new races look like they’re going to be a lot of fun to take control of. Total War: Warhammer II is now available for download on Steam, and is going to cost you $59.99 USD. Everything about this game looks amazing! So make sure you head on over to Steam and pick up your copy of Total War: Warhammer II today!
