Don’t miss the latest signs and portents that could point to a new edition of Vigilus and Chaos Space Marines on deck for Warhammer 40k in March.
Haarken promised Abaddon that Vigilus would fall eighty days after he made landfall. We’ve now got less than fifty days to go before Haarken completes his mission.
Let’s take a look at where we’re at and what we’ve seen so far that may herald new Chaos and Vigilus for Warhammer 40k!
CLUE #1 Haarken’s Declaration
We Have Returned!
The video ends in a countdown clock to a date 50-ish days from now:
From the timing above it appears the video indicates March 5th 2019, but what exactly may happen that day is still very much a mystery. Regardless of what happens then, this video is sure to jumpstart the hype train much like the oversized wrench video did on August 14th for Orktober.
Speaking of timing, that buggy video also came out about 80 days before the Speed Freeks box set hit store shelves as well.
CLUE #2: Vigilus II
There may no better indicator that there will be a Vigilus book two, with potentially new rules for Chaos and any new models they release (such as the case with Haarkan, and Primarneus), than the first book itself.
Vigilus Part 1
Why else would GW put “I” on the spine of the book, if they were not planning on making additional parts to it?
CLUE #3: New Warmachine Art Spotted
What happens when a Spider bites a Daemon Prince? That thing.
Forces of the Black Legion were spotted making their way through a blasted archway with some kind of (Daemon Engine?) which we’ve never seen before. From what we can tell, it looks like it doesn’t have any real shooting weaponry. It might be able to lash at something with its tongue but that looks to be about it. The real weapons look like the armored legs with spikes.
CLUE #4 Chaos Sorcerer Spotted
This Chaos Sorcerer model was spotted for the Warhammer New Year’s Open Day painted up in the colors of the Black Legion.
He’s got some similarities to the Rogue Psykers found inside Blackstone Fortress as he’s levitating and holding a staff. The only real difference is that he’s in power armor and doesn’t have a massive head. On a side note, did you notice what’s in the background of the Psyker model?
We highlighted it in red. That’s unmistakably Abaddon’s arm. He still uses Horus’s Claw hand and it’s an iconic figure for the Black Legion after all. He may be lurking within the ranks of the Black Legion biding his time to jump out and attack Marneus Calgar.
CLUE #4: Haarken Gets FAQ’d Once Again
Haarken was subject to an FAQ recently that only let him reroll failed hits for Black Legion. However, in a twenty-four-hour time period, GW pulled that FAQ and let him reroll all failed hits for any Raptor unit.
the idea that Abaddon’s right-hand-Raptor would lead ALL the Raptors of the traitor Legions is pretty cool – so we’re removing that change from the errata. After all, Haarken is the personal herald of the Warmaster who commands Heretic Astartes from all the traitor Legions.
What do you think we will see return for Chaos Space Marines based on these previews? Well here are some of our guesses, which of course is just 100% pure speculation and wishlisting.
- A new Vigilus supplement that includes content for Chaos.
- New Abaddon and Obliterator models
- Fulgrim and new Emperors Children
Up to this point, we’ve only seen previews of new models to come as well as some mysterious figures in artwork. Keep your eyes peeled for even more Chaos to breakthrough as the days countdown on Vigilus.
