Check out the new named character for the Primaris Space Marines! Shadowspear is coming from Games Workshop and it has all kinds of new models.
Warhammer Community dropped a preview showcasing a new model who’s actually a named character. He’ll also be rocking a brand new pattern of Primaris armor! If you missed the other preview on named characters inside the box, check out Vorash Soulflayer, the Master of Possessions.
Shadowspear Reveals Named Primaris Character
Captain Acheran in Phobos Armor
Captain Acheran – a cunning and decisive leader whose actions have earned him numerous battle honours – was handpicked by Marneus Calgar to lead the covert investigation of Nemendghast.
There’s a couple of unique thing about this character right off the bat. This is the first named Ultramarines Primaris Captain we’ve seen. He’s not an old Captain who got turned into Primaris either. He’s been 100% Primaris since day one and earned a name for himself among the ranks of his men.
At first glance, you’d say he’s wearing Reaver armor. However, in the Warhammer Community article, the type of armor he’s wearing is actually Phobos pattern. So what kind of rules will the Phobos pattern armor have? We’re not sure, but as the leader of a Recon unit, we feel like it may give him a natural -1 to hit ability… Or perhaps the enemy can’t fire overwatch!
Breaking down the other bits on the model, he’s going to be armed with some kind of master-crafted boltgun and Servo-skull. This isn’t just any Servo-skull, however! He’s carrying some kind of screen which we are guessing will let him and his men ignore cover saves (or something to that extent).
Last but not least, his helmet. See it on the back of his waist? We actually saw that helmet in some previews from earlier.
What does this mean? It means that Captain Acheran isn’t the only Primaris with the new pattern of Phobos armor! We should be seeing a couple of brand new primaris units hit the tabletop shortly once Shadowspear drops.
