Forbidden Power & New Terrain: Next Week’s GW Releases REVEALED

Artifacts of terrible force and new terrain for AoS are finally here! Forbidden Power and Dominion of Sigmar terrain are coming to pre-order Saturday!

Warhammer Community just let everyone know what’s going up for pre-order next weekend and for Age of Sigmar fans it could not have come at a better time as the 2019 general’s Handbook also approaches soon!

In the wake of the Necroquake, Sigmar’s Stormvaults have been revealed – arcane repositories created to seal away artifacts of terrible power from an age long past. Armies have mustered from across the Mortal Realms to claim these forbidden relics, while in Shyish, the Great Necromancer gathers his strength for the next stage of the Soul Wars…

The 88-page Forbidden Power book tells of the battle for the Midnight Tomb, as the spectral armies of Nagash lay siege to the free city of Lethis, seeking to break into the Grand Stormvault hidden beneath its streets. In addition, you will find new rules for recreating the armies that fought for Lethis, for fighting battles in the grim region of Shyish known as Stygxx, and for playing a campaign to conquer multiple Stormvaults hidden across the Mortal Realms to capture the powerful relics within.

There’s something for every faction in the book, so no matter which grand alliance you fight for or the deity you serve, your army can fight for the right to loot the forbidden Stormvaults too!

In addition to loads of new rules and background, the expansion includes a new piece of modular scenery – a Penumbral Engine – and four new endless spells in the form of a Soulscream Bridge, Horrorghast, Shards of Valagharr and Lauchon the Soulseeker. The set also includes warscroll cards for each of the endless spells as well as the Penumbral Engine and all of the new terrain kits from the new Dominion of Sigmar scenery range. Speaking of which…

Games Workshop is promising more details about what Forbidden Power will change for the Mortal Realms and what it could mean for your army.  Remarkably absent from Warhammer Fest previews more is to come this week for sure.

Dominion of Sigmar

We had seen these already in the May White Dwarf but doesn’t make them any less impressive what so ever. Coming soon to tabletops are the following terrain sets:

  • Sigmarite Dais
  • Enduring Stormvault
  • Shattered Temple
  • Timeworn RuinsForbidden Power

Before the coming of Chaos, the Mortal Realms were littered with glorious temple-cities and towering edifices dedicated to the glory of the God-King Sigmar. Many were cast down or fell into disrepair during the dark times of the Age of Chaos, yet their noble heritage endures in the ruins that remain.

If you want to give your battlefield a Sigmarite makeover with some modular terrain (including stylised hills!), the Enduring Stormvault, Timeworn Ruins, Sigmarite Dais and Shattered Temple sets that make up the new Dominion of Sigmar scenery range (shown clockwise below) will also be available.

Fresh off Warhammer Fest 2019 we have some pictures sent from sablednah! that show just how BIG these new sets really are!

Oh no, another coffee cup snafu.

Assembled together like Voltron, these sets appear to take up about a 3 foot by four-foot area. Very cool. Let’s take a look at some of them individually:

Seriously does anyone even look at the camera before they hit record… it’s like they aren’t even trying for season eight!

Jokes aside the Sigmarite Dais looks to have two mirrored halves, along with attachable columns.  Judging by this, repositioning the sets depending on the battlefield may be a snap!

No clue what this set is that was spotted towering over the Shattered Temple set. Perhaps a replacement for the dated Numinous Occulum?
