Wait… More Factions Coming to Psychic Awakening Than We Thought?

space marines psychic awakening warhammer 40k title wal horSince the start of Psychic Awakening, we had a chart that GW gave us showing which factions would be getting support. But more might be on the way…

At the very beginning of Psychic Awakening, GW dropped a chart showing all of the factions that would be getting rules support. From Aeldari to Chaos and a bunch of Imperial factions, they were very clear that we just had to be patient for the new rules. However, a new faction image popped up that wasn’t there originally.

Wait…Are More Factions Coming to Psychic Awakening Than We Thought?

psychic awakening NEWThis is the chart we’re talking about. We’ve got Blood Angels, Tyranids, Death Guard, Custodes, etc for a total of 24. After Saga of the Beast, we’re making some pretty good progress at checking factions off the list.

Engine of warWe also know that Engine War is coming, pitting Admech and Imperial Knights against their angsty counterparts. However, in the latest batch of online previews, War of the Spider was announced with a new faction symbol that wasn’t in the original listing (shown above).

Latest Previews Show New Faction Insignia

psychic awakening war of the spiderIn the pic just released by WHC, we’ve got Custodes, Death Guard, and Chaos joining the party. But what’s that symbol with the sword going through the skull? That’s the Officio Assassinorum!

Why Taking a Callidus Assassin Is Starting to Make Sense

officio assassinorumWith heavy Assassin support first seen in a White Dwarf, it looks like we’ll be getting another rules overhaul in War of the Spider as well. Who knows if it’ll be something sick like a new Primaris Assassin or maybe just some new rules to allow them to keep up with the pace of the meta. We’ll have to wait and see.

Chaos Also Getting Support Again…But in a New Way?

fabius bile 1But speaking of factions in War of the Spider, we also know that Fabius Bile is leading his own subfaction of Marines called the Agents of Bile. That’s twice the Chaos symbol has been spotted for Psychic Awakening as well!

As well as returning with an epic new model, Fabius is also the cover star of the next book in the Psychic Awakening saga – War of the Spider. As he spins his plans and schemes, his enemies close in on him – the Death Guard, Officio Assassinorum and Talons of the Emperor all have their reasons for wanting to stop Bile. Along with background on the battles taking place amid the ruins of the Cadia System, the book will include new rules for the Adeptus Custodes, Sisters of Silence and Imperial Assassins. There are also additional rules for each of the seven Plague Companies of the Death Guard and a new Chaos Space Marines sub-faction called Agents of Bile, representing the twisted creations of the Clonefather.

With Death Guard’s faction insignia revealed, it’s safe to say that the Agents of Bile are going to be under the generic Chaos faction symbol. It is also worth noting that we already saw generic chaos get support in Faith and Fury. So this will be GW’s second pass at Chaos once again and we have no clue if Bile will be able to ally with any other Legion, or if he will be his own standalone faction. If he was getting a standalone faction, we feel like we might also see a new insignia to go with them, however.

After seeing the Assassinorum symbol as well as the Chaos symbol pop up once again, War of the Spider is definitely raising a bunch of questions. We’ll need to keep our eyes peeled for short stories Warhammer Community likes to drop for clues in the days leading up to their release.

What do you think could be in store for the Assassinorum? Would you like to see Bile lead his own faction with exclusive units? Or would you like to be able to include them in any Legion detachment?
