Check out these teasers of the new rules for the Dark Angels Primarch Lion El’Johnson, and all the contents of the new Horus Heresy Crusade book as well!
Coming from Warhammer Community, we’re able to lay eyes on the table of contents for the book. We already knew that Lion El’Jonson and Konrad Kurze were going to be going at it in the book. But just as a quick refresher, here’s everything on the next Primarch to hit the Forge World line.
Dark Angels Primarch Lion El’Jonson Rules
As you’d expect, he’s in-line with all of his other Primarch bros. Being WS 8, he’s obviously going to be a melee powerhouse. And with a base S7 combined with his wargear, he’ll be wounding most things on 2’s and 3’s. Plus, with Initiative 7 you can almost guarantee he’ll be smacking first.
When you really piss the Lion off, he puts a little pep in his step and swings harder and harder. The best way to kill him off is to dedicate enough firepower in one go to put him down in a phase. That way, he can’t get up to 7 attacks base.
Being that the Lion goes and hunts huge creatures for funsies, he also knows where to hit his target in melee. An Absolute Focus is a really sweet rule that caps his hitting out at a 4+. Pretty useful against debuffs/melee Primarchs.
The Lion Sword is what you want if you’ll be going against T4 elites like Terminators/Artificer-geared dudes. AP 1 will cut through them like butter through a hot knife. Especially when you look at rules like Fleshbane. The only “weakness” to the weapon is that doesn’t have any bonus Strength to offer.
The Wolf Blade on the other hand, is a brutal alternative that’s just as much of a maul as it is a sword. With +3 Strength, you’ll be swinging at Strength 10 and AP 2. Plus, due to the fact that people are getting cleaved in half and watching their brother’s organs spew out through the teeth of the blade, they scurred. Your opponents will be forced to roll another dice for morale and keep the highest.
Horus Heresy’s Crusade Table of Contents
Looking at the Table of Contents, it’s broken down by:
- The Grave of Heroes
- Forces of the Thramas Crusade
- Legiones Dark Angels
- Legiones Night Lords
- Army List Additions
As you can see, it’s absolutely packed with Age of Darkness goodness. Along with a host of new rules and in-depth background for the Dark Angels and Night Lords Legions, it includes missions that let you recreate the Thramas campaign. It also contains new units that can be taken by any Space Marines Legion, and additions to the forces of the Solar Auxilia and Imperialis Militia and Cults.

Not only are we able to see a full breakdown of the table of contents but GW also gave us a download on some units found in the book.
GW Gives Downloadable Rules For Farith Redloss & Holguin
Farith Redloss is a Master of the Dreadwing and has an unparalleled knowledge of all of the weaponry in the First Legion’s arsenal. Before battle, he can choose between three different ranged weapons to wield alongside his power axe. If you plan on getting up close and personal, choose the magaron pattern atomantic pulse pistol.
Two characters were mentioned and already previewed with their rules as part of a free download. Farith Redloss and Holguin both sit at 200 pts and come back with all kinds of wargear and special rules. Farith is the Master of the Dreadwing while Holguin is the Master of the Deathwing.
Holguin meanwhile, was one of the few Terran-born warriors to claim a place in the Council of Masters. This Master of the Deathwing has access to a number of the Legion’s venerable relics, including the Viridian Blade.
Be sure to look over all of the special rules they offer and see if you can find a spot for them in your list. At the very least you can download their rules here!
We’ve had a lot to cover but if you’re especially interested in playing Dark Angels or Night Lords in the Horus Heresy, be sure to read over all the details!
