So Primaris Space Marines are looking to get new weapons and a speeder, but what role do they need to fill on the tabletop?
In case you didn’t know, there’s another big live reveal on Saturday from WarhammerTVs Twitch. We’ll be covering everything here as it happens but while we wait on that, we should explore what’s on the table for Primaris Marines.

So Space Marines and some new units are going to be one of the topics of discussion. Well, remember these units that emerged in various places around the web?
Space Marines Getting New Weapons & Primaris Speeder
If you look at this old rumored picture back from 2019, you can see a perfect matchup of the revealed Gladiator tank in the bottom left. There are also the new Indomitus Outriders in the top right. On that note, that means there could also be a Primaris Land Speeder-looking model around the corner as well. Although it’s not been officially previewed yet, and is still a new Space Marines rumor.
In a previous codex teaser video, we also saw some pages flipped through which some eagle-eyed fans managed to translate. Some of those are units we’ve never heard of before.
This is a mix of units we’ve had for years as well as units we’ve never even heard of. Go through each column slowly! You’ll even see some of the new space marines rumors units we talked about above like the Gladiator Tank but here’s what we’ve got:
FIRST COLUMN
- Captain with Master-crafted Heavy Bolt Rifle
- Primaris Chaplain on Bike
- Primaris Techmarine-Servitors
SECOND COLUMN
- Techmarine-Intercessor Squad
- Assault Intercessor Squad
- Heavy Intercessor Squad
- Company Ancient
- Primaris Ancient
- Bladeguard Ancient
- Veteran Intercessor Squad
- Bladeguard Veteran Squad
- Judiciar
- Outrider Squad
- Invader ATV Squad
- Inceptor Squad
- Storm Speeder Hellstrike
THIRD COLUMN
- Storm Speeder SOMETHING
- Storm Speeder SOMETHING
- Eradicator Squad
- Firestrike Servo Turret
- Gladiator Lancer
- Gladiator Reaper
- Gladiator Valiant
- Hammerfall Bunker
The key units that we’ve highlighted are the heavy Intercessors, Captain with Master-crafted Heavy Bolt Rifle, and all three Storm Speeder variants.
For good measure, here’s a picture of what looks to be potentially a Heavy Intercessor.

How Do These New Units Compare to Their Firstborn Versions?
Knocking down the Land Speeder first, right now, we have the regular Land Speeder (which we saw some Iron Hands players use as a cheap gun platform in 8th). Then there’s the Land Speeder Storm which can be used to transport a few Scouts in-game.
Well, looking at the potential Storm Speeder (what we guess as a Primaris version of a Land Speeder) it looks to be loaded with missile racks on the top as well as having a few guns on the sides. As far as unit options go, the Storm Speeder Hellstrike sounds like a unit that’s loaded with melta/flamer/anti-infantry. This could be the new replacement for the Baal Predator except it comes to every Marine Chapter (suck it artisans of Baal).
The other two Variants would probably be one loadout geared toward anti-armor and the other for transporting light Primaris dudes, which could potentially be Phobos guys. These educated guesses may not be too far off either as we’ve just seen GW preview the Primaris Gladiator with three different weapon builds and all with different names.
What About Heavy Intercessors?
The Heavy Intercessor is a weird one. You could argue that an Intercessor with Stalker Bolt Rifle is a “Heavy” Intercessor. It’s literally an Intercessor with a heavy weapon. But there has to be enough variation to separate this Heavy Intercessor from a regular old Intercessor that just happens to be using a heavy weapon.
So what kind of gun could he have? Well, it would be pretty unoriginal if GW went with an additional AP and Damage. So…
As far as ground-level Infantry goes GW already covered the plasma role with Hellblasters.
We’ve also just seen them cover the melta role for the army.
So that leaves Grav weaponry.
We’re not saying it’s 100% but it is a possibility to see these Intercessors come with some kind of Grav weapon. Just because they’re technically an “Intercessor” doesn’t mean that they have to be a Troops choice either. Let’s face it, a Grav-loadout Troop option would be busted.
Exciting times are ahead and we should have a better idea for what’s in store for Space Marines by the time Saturday rolls around!
