Another Gaming Company Calls it Quits

By Travis Pasch | October 8th, 2021 | Categories: Dust, Warhammer 40k Rumors

dust-1947It’s a sad day as Dust 1947 is closing after a twelve-year run due to increasing costs and the remnants of COVID.

Another casualty to the global economy and increasing costs of basically everything. In a recent statement, DUST released the sad news.  We loved the way they did things with free rules, awesome minis, and a really cool story. If you never played, it was based on what would have happened if WWII had kept going, but now it looks like the war is finally over.

It really sucks to see news like this, but sometimes things just can’t keep going. With increased shipping costs, higher prices for raw materials, and taxes were just too much for the company.

Sadly, Dust 1947 Calls it Quits After 12 Years

Dust 1947 calls it quitsYou can read the full statement above but basically, it all comes down to COVID economics. Plus, as with most companies, the situation in China has made it near impossible for them to keep the supply chain going.

Six Shooter Bulldog featureThey used the last of the materials they could to distribute the last wave of minis they had planned, the Imperial Japenese Navy Bloc (not the mini above). This way they could be played on their own. The good news is if you still want to play, there are tons of minis and amazing sculpts for the game. Unfortunately, nothing will be made going forward, but you can keep the spirit of the game alive!

On the site, they still have the downloads available, so while it may suck to see the game go, you can still play.

Secret Weapon Miniatures, and now Dust have called it quits, and chances are these won’t be the last companies to go.

Here’s a very good video the breaks down EXACTLY why shelves are still sitting empty, prices are rising, and companies sadly are dying…

All the best to Paolo and the crew!
