New Eldritch Omens 40k Box Details Hidden In Plain Sight

eldritch-omensThe Eldritch Omens box has new miniatures inside for both Chaos and Eldar, but there are a few things that may be hidden in plain sight…

The new box will be hitting shelves in early 2022 with 15 new miniatures inside. GW revealed a lot about Eldritch Omens already over multiple posts, so there might have been a few details you missed. Also, if these aren’t everything you were hoping for, there are plenty of other rumors out there, so don’t get too worried yet.

Eldar vs Chaos Space Marines Eldritch Omens Battle Box Set

This battlebox contains 16 miniatures, a whopping 15 of which are all new. The 16th is a mighty, smoke-belching Forgefiend – the forces of Chaos can never have too many daemon engines. You also get a 32-page Eldritch Omens booklet that outlines the narrative of the battle for Daethe in the war-torn Nachmund sector.

While both of these factions desperately needed reworks to their miniatures line, the Eldar having models dating from the 1990s probably needed them more! Games Workshop did not disappoint this reveal either. Let’s check out some of the smaller details!

New Eldritch Omens 40k Box Details Hidden In Plain Sight

fury of the deepThe first thing is it will actually come out on the same day as the Fury of the Deep Box according to GW.

And after yesterday’s big reveal for Warhammer 40,000, we have something special for fans of the Mortal Realms coming on the same day.

So if you somehow play armies in both the boxes, you might be spending a lot of cash on day one! This is a new way of them doing things and it could mean they have so much stuff lined up for 2022 that they have to get the releases flowing. We could hope right. Perhaps or they might just have the two lined up for the same day already- which could further be delayed by COVID etc… who knows at this point?

Eldar Autarch Has Tons of Options

This kit has plenty of options, allowing you to build the Autarch of your dreams, with three head options, two torso variants, and certain other still-secret options! In terms of weapons, you get a star glaive or a scorpion chainsword in one hand, and your pick of four ranged weapons in the other. Not only that, the weapons and upgrades are cross-compatible with the existing Autarch model.

This kit is going to have a ton of options! With three different head options (not shown yet), torso variants (probably male and female), and plenty of weapons. They showed most of the guns, but not the chainsword. Then, with the secret options and so many heads and weapon choices, who knows, maybe this could actually be turned into a bunch of different Phoenix Lords?

Still, this kit looks like it will be pretty serious with so many options!

Warpsmith Options

Eldar vs Chaos Space Marines Eldritch Omens Battle Box Set warpsmithThe Warpsmith doesn’t have as many options as the Autarch but will have multiple weapons and head options. It won’t be as versatile but still, better than no options for a new Chaos character!

Chosen Options

Eldar vs Chaos Space Marines Eldritch Omens Battle Box Set chosenThis looks very much like it will be a giant multi-part kit, meaning you can have plenty of poses and weapon options! GW even said they have a lot of weapons and heads to choose from, so we expect them to really be customizable, which would be nice if these are the only new kits Chaos is getting for the time being. We don’t think that will be the case, but you never know.

There is also a big chance these will have multiple poses each, giving them more bang for your buck.

Eldritch Omens Box: What’s the Value Pricing Breakdown

Eldar vs Chaos Space Marines Eldritch Omens Battle Box Set contents 16 models

  • Autarch $35 (based on recent character releases)
  • Rangers $55 (based on Drukhari and Howling Banshees releases)
  • Shroud Runners $60 (based on SM Outriders)

Eldar MSRP $150

  • Warpsmith $35-$40 (based on recent releases, but there is a chance it goes for $40 and not $35)
  • Chaos Chosen $60
  • Forgefiend $75

Chaos MSRP $170

Overall MSRP: $320

Total Estimated Value: $150 (based on previous boxes)

There is also some intrinsic value inside as 15 of the 16 miniatures are new and we probably won’t see them released on their own for a while. We also hope GW puts these on MTO pre-order as we expect them to sell a decent amount of boxes considering both factions inside rarely get new miniatures.

Is the Box Worth It?

Eldar vs Chaos Space Marines Eldritch Omens Battle Box Set eldar halfThe recent Shadow Throne box went for $170 and had about $113 worth of value inside. If this goes for the same price (let’s hope it’s not more) then the value will be higher so that’s at least something. However, when you look back at something like Indomitus, the cost per mini in the box is still very high at about $10.6 per figure.

Obviously, it has a lot of elite and big models so that does offset it. If you split this with a friend, you will be getting about double your money in minis, so that really isn’t bad if you want all the new stuff!

As usual, we think both Eldar and Chaos players are happy thus far with the tidal wave of news and rumors for all things Warhammer 40k, especially the Eldritch Omens Box.
