1st Place: TJ Lanigan – Genestealer Cults

TJ lanigan 1

Starting off, TJ  went for a small patrol led by a Patriarch, who can support the list thanks to their psychic powers and hit/leadership auras that help boost the rest of the list. Troops see a 10 man squad of hybrids with 4 Heavy Rock Drills, which bring in crushing melee attacks if they can make it into combat. Finishing the small patrol is a Kelermorph, with its fantastic guns, and 10 Purestrain Genestealers, who add some more decent melee threats.

TJ lanigan 2The second, and much larger detachment, is a battalion led by a Patriarch and a Primus. The patriarch gives additional sources of auras and the Primus helps by having both hit and wound auras to help out nearby units in combat.

Troops keep it simple with a total of 25 Hybrids and 6 Heavy Rock Drills for melee threats.

TJ lanigan 3Elites bring in  15 Metamorphs, which are slightly better than the acolyte variants, making them more point dense and have better stats. 20 more Purestrain Genestealers also add in some more melee bodies to swarm enemies or even just hold lone objectives if needed.

Fast Attacks bring in 8 Atalan Jackals for their mobility and harass potential, all packaged in a relatively cheap model.

Finally,  closing out the list are 2 Goliath Trucks, which can help transport units up the board while protecting those all-important Rock Drills so they have a better shot at making it into melee and chewing through some models

Editor’s note: Per our people at the tournament, TJ forgot to play with an entire squad the whole event, and if you want to believe the armchair live stream jockeys on Reddit he also set up one game over the deployment line. That post has since been deleted, and yes Reddit you can stop anytime.

It seems that even down points the new GSC and Custodes Army lists played here are day one winners. Will that trend keep up with Tau on the horizon?
