GW dropped a new Age of Sigmar Battlescroll rules update for July with tons of points and rules changes for the game!
GW has been keeping a better eye on the meta with this edition of AoS (but we’ll see how a year-long GHB plays out), and a couple of armies have been doing really well for the past few months. This time around, there are some significant changes with tons of points updates and rule changes.
The General’s Handbook has a big focus on magic this time around, with Primal Magic, Realm Magic, and the Nullstone Adornments, and it looks like the battle scroll has some changes to combat those. Let’s dive into it.
GW Drops New Age of Sigmar Battlescroll Rules Update For July 2023
The new Age of Sigmar Battlescroll rules update comes from Warhammer Community.
As you can probably guess, this season is all about the wizards. There are loads of new magical tools in the General’s Handbook, including Primal Magic, Realm Magic, and the Nullstone Adornments you will need to put a stop to all these arcane shenanigans.
They are changing the coherency rules slightly (very similar to the new 40k rules) and finally putting Look Out, Sir! officially into the rules (it was in the last GHB, now it’s just a rule overall).
With the changes to magic, Khorne and Soulblight Gravelords also got some updates as well.
The Kruleboyz have had a historically lousy win rate, so seeing them get any buffs is good, but people might have wished for a bit more. Only time will tell there.
Age of Sigmar Point Changes
Well, if you play Stormcast, it’s a good day, as you’re getting an insane number of point drops! Deepkin and Daughters of Khaine follow suit with only buffs. However, Dwarves of all kinds are getting hit hard with a decent number of increases.
Lastly, Kroak and Skinks get an increase of points, but that makes sense with how they have been performing.
It looks like GW hit Flamers a little too hard, as now they are getting a slight decrease in points. Maybe one of the craziest things is that now the Daemon Prince is cheaper than a Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount.
It has gotten a decrease almost every time and is insanely cheap right now. Lastly, Skaven also gets decreases across the board.
Maggotkin generally get decreases, with just 30 points in total getting added.
Nighthaunt needed some help, and with this many decreases, you’ll be able to add another unit or two to the army, and it might make all the difference. On the other side of Death, Soulblight actually gets a decent number of points increases.
Gloomspite Gitz gets hit harder than most factions but has been quite decent lately. Whereas Sons of Behemat get some decent decreases, but with how many points each model is, this might not free up too many units overall.
