GW Announces New Warhammer Tournaments & Events For Winter 2023
They announced all the latest event news via Warhammer Community. So, if you are a UK hobbyist, be sure to get your event tickets if you are interested. Don’t worry, though; we’ll also look at the US tournaments and the events for the fall still through the end of the year!

US Open Series Tampa
On top of one of the year’s biggest Warhammer 40,000 tournaments, with nearly 400 players already registered, the Tampa Open features dozens of other events. There are Grand Tournaments for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Kill Team, and Warhammer Underworlds, plus events for Blood Bowl, Warhammer 40,000 Crusade, and more. Open Gaming tickets also give you the chance to play games of your choosing with like-minded fans, and you can still get tickets for a range of hobby classes.
If you want to play a big event in the States, there are still a few tickets available for some events. So, be sure to check what’s left and play some games!
Throne of Skulls 40k Warhammer World Event
The Warhammer World team are always coming up with new ideas for their events, and for December they’ve made a revisions to the Throne of Skulls format. These are casual matched play events, designed to reward enthusiastic gamers with great looking armies who display a healthy helping of sportsmanship.
From now on, each event will have a special rule to differentiate them from more competitive matched play events. First up is the Rule of One, which debuts at the Warhammer 40,000 Throne of Skulls event in December. With this rule in effect, players can only pick one of each datasheet when building their armies – not the usual three.
If you want to play a more relaxed tournament, then this is for you. It rewards more for the hobby and sportsmanship.
Dungeon Bowl Tournament
Descend below the Colleges of Magic and battle it out in a single day Dungeon Bowl tournament designed for new players, veterans, and people who just want to show off their hobby and gaming skills. You’ll duke it out across three games, doing your best to score the most Dungeon Points, earn that coveted Favourite Game vote, and perhaps even triumph in the Painting Competition!
If you’re near Warhammer World and want to show off your team and play a few games, these sound like a lot of fun!
These are the newest tournament announcements from Games Workshop, but let’s check out the rest of the upcoming events you can still play in!
Fall Tournaments
Pushed for time? Not sure you want to take on a full two-day tournament? Fancy a little weekday Warhammer treat? Simply take part in one of the two Tyrannic War events in October. These three-game events 1,000 point events are wrapped up in a day, and each includes a painting competition so you can celebrate everyone’s gorgeous miniatures.

Take part in Warhammer World’s premier Blood Bowl tournament this October – the Full Beard Cup! It’s a weekend full of touchdowns, fouls, hail-mary passes, and bone-shattering blocks. You’ll have a team draft budget of 1,200,000 gold pieces and five thrilling games to play across two days. You can also participate in the Full Beard Pub Quiz, and enter a Best Team Painting Competition.
It’s a full weekend of Blood Bowl; if you play the game, they will have something for you!
Then there’s the streamlined Blitzing Sevens Cup, which takes place at Bugman’s. This slimline version of Blood Bowl is no less lethal, but ensures that four games and a painting competition can be as neatly tucked into a day as a ball carrier into a solid box formation.
7’s is a really fun way to go play the game, and since this is a one-day tournament, you might as well break out the minis and go!
LVO 2024 Tickets are also on Sale
The event will take place from January 18th-21st, 2024, but it’s better to plan now because of how fast the tickets always sell out! While this is just a preview of the convention, there will inevitably be more going on than this when tickets go on sale!
