Here’s our pick for the best homebrew 10th Edition Warhammer 40k army list of the week, this time from the MOAB 40k 2023.
Check out this excellent homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend that shows that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

MOAB 40K 2023: Joshua Brodie – 1st Place Red Corsairs/Chaos Space Marines
To start, this is quite interesting compared to many of the lists we’ve seen because it relies heavily on cultists and Dark Communes (which should help with survivability and getting off an advance and charge). There is a single Warpsmith added, which will help with all the vehicles.
For foot troops, they ran two big blobs of Acursed Cultists (on top of the one regular squad) with six Torments each. They get an insane amount of attacks and should be able to deal with most infantry (and with D2, destroy Marines), but then you have the Possessed to support them in combat but have much more survivability.
To round this part of the list out, there are some Raptors to get up in their face early and slow them down.
Considering the army has so much melee, you obviously need some tanks to take out enemy armor! For that, he brought two Predator Annihilators, two Venomcrawlers, and a Forgefiend! P
aired with the Warpsmith; they should be able to dish out some serious damage. The one thing that’s pretty standard about this list is a bunch of Nurglings to just hold all the objectives for insanely cheap.
