The new Aeldari Codex is bringing plenty of surprises, and none are more exciting than the arrival of the new Lhykhis, the Whispering Web model, the long-rumored Phoenix Lord of the Warp Spiders. She’s stepping out of centuries of mystery and into the heart of the battlefield, ready to show why her name inspires awe (and a fair bit of terror).
The Myth Becomes Reality
For ages, the Aeldari debated the continued existence of Lhykhis. Her absence was so prolonged that many believed she was gone for good. Only the Warp Spiders‘ combat style hinted at her legacy. Now, she’s back and busier than ever, appearing across the galaxy to defend her people with swift, devastating precision.
Her mastery of short-range Warp jumps isn’t just good—it’s unmatched. Even her Exarchs can’t replicate the speed and ferocity with which she strikes. Lhykhis hits hard, vanishes, and then strikes again before the enemy knows what’s happening. Imperial commanders have struggled to track her movements, with most encounters ending in chaos and shredded battle lines.
Leaked Datacard & 10th Edition 40k rules
Looks like the codex hasn’t even dropped yet, and her rules are already making waves online! Let’s break it down. First off, a 2+/4+ save? That’s about as good as it gets. With five wounds, she can soak up a fair bit of damage, though her lower toughness balances things out a bit. Still, she’s no pushover.
Now, let’s talk about the Brood Twain because this thing means business. It’s basically a supercharged flamer, averaging 6.5 hits, rerolling wounds, and packing a nasty -2 AP. Infantry? Say goodbye. But wait—there’s more. If she shoots first, any Aeldari units targeting the same enemy (until the end of the turn, so both shooting and melee) will land critical hits on a 5+ instead of a 6+. Since her weapon auto-hits thanks to Torrent, that’s practically guaranteed. This little synergy boost can turn the tide in a firefight real quick.
When it comes to melee, she’s not messing around. She throws out 10 attacks—split between five at Strength 6, AP -2, 2 damage, and another five at Strength 5, AP -2, 1 damage. Oh, and all of them come with lethal hits, which means she can punch way above her weight and even take a swing at tougher targets without breaking a sweat.
And here’s the kicker—she gives Warp Spiders the ability to charge after using Flickerjump, which basically lets them zip across the entire board. Stick her in a squad of 5-10 Warp Spiders, and you’ve got yourself a unit that can rip through almost anything in their path. With Flickerjump, they can be anywhere, anytime, ready to pounce on unsuspecting targets.
Long story short? She’s an absolute menace on the battlefield!
Leaping into Danger
The new Lhykhis model embodies everything the Warp Spiders stand for: fearlessness, precision, and the ability to outmaneuver even the deadliest foes. Her willingness to leap into the immaterium highlights her commitment to victory at any cost. It’s a dangerous game, as even hardened Autarchs hesitate to spend too much time in the Warp. But for Lhykhis, it’s just another day at work.
On the tabletop, the new Lhykis model is all about supercharging her Warp Spiders. Her ability to let them charge after their Warp jumps opens up a host of tactical options, turning them into a relentless force that’s nearly impossible to pin down.
Deadly Tools of the Trade
Lhykhis isn’t just fast—she’s packing serious firepower. She is equipped with twin monofilament web-casters, known as the Brood Twain, which ensnare and carve through enemies with lethal precision. The puncturing barbs add to the carnage, tools that unravel foes from the inside with horrifying efficiency.
Vhattarkan, or Weaverender in Low Gothic, is her main weapon. This blade, allegedly blessed by the primal weaver goddess Ahnakh-Yth, slices through reality itself. It’s sharp enough to bypass even the toughest defenses, leaving her enemies in ruins.
What’s Next?
Lhykhis has shown up in teasers before, though only in passing. A report in Psychic Awakening: The Greater Good mentioned a grisly incident involving Warp Spiders, an Astra Militarum platoon, and a mysterious suit of Aeldari armor. For lore fans, these breadcrumbs were tantalizing, but now we finally have confirmation: the Whispering Web is real, and she’s not holding back.
