There’s a new way to play Aeronautica Imperialis now called Flight Command over on Steam! Fly your fighter in a video game format this month!
Over on Steam, soon you’ll be able to download Aeronautica Imperialis and play with your friends online. The game has been developed by Binary Planets and should be releasing later this month. Here are all the details.
Take to the skies! Guide your Imperial Navy or Ork Airwaagh squadron to victory and experience every dive, roll and ultra high-G turn through desperate dogfights in this tactical aerial combat game. Life is the Emperor’s currency, spend it well.
Dubbed Flight Command, it looks like it’s starting the same way the tabletop game did. With the Imperial Navy and Orks only. But that doesn’t mean that there can’t be more factions added later.
Similar to how things work on the tabletop, this is going to be a turn-based game. With that said, you and your opponent will be putting in your next maneuvers simultaneously. Once you’re both ready, you can commit and the game will carry out the orders to all the fighters in-game at the same time. This gives an interesting dynamic as it’ll take a little bit of guesswork as to where your opponent will be going next.
Each plane comes with a set of maneuvers to follow in-game that will show their projected flight path once you select it.
You can also put certain pilots in the cockpits of your planes that come with special rules and abilities to give you an edge.
This is all geared around dominating the sky with which faction you choose. While at the time of writing this, the game isn’t out yet, you can sign up to join the closed Beta before its release.
If you’ve been itching for a game of Aeronautica Imperialis but haven’t been able to play due to the global crisis, this may be your way to enjoy the game from home!
With the new game scheduled to drop later this month, which faction will you be playing? Have you been painting your Aeronautica minis to pass the time?
