Seems like a good value right from the start, so now let’s take a closer look at what’s inside.
Sprues, Rules and Mats
Looks good right off the bat. It’s hard to argue with push-fit sprues, included rules and a game mat perfect for the smaller size of Warhammer 40k. If you’ve fallen in love with the Indomitus releases, go check what else is going on with it.Â
Space Marines
The box is just right for a starting size force, they don’t have quite as much as the other boxes in terms of models. But this kit makes up for it in the extras. And speaking of extras, this Captain comes with three different heads and two different bases. Don’t forget, this was all push-fit, not a drop of glue on this guy!
The troopers that come with the box. GW did a very good job of trying to hide the mold lines on these guys. They have a couple that will need some cutting but nothing compared to some of their other boxes. And once again, all push-fit!
Necrons
The Overlord looks amazing! This one has a couple of gaps, so even though it is also push-fit, you may want to use a tiny bit of glue to meld those parts together. Or you can just clip off the push-fit stuff and glue it together like normal.
One of the best parts about this kit for the Necrons is it comes with both weapon options and head options. That way you aren’t pigeoned holed into one or the other if you get this box instead of the individual Warrior box.
Terrain
This is Rob’s favorite part of the whole kit. He had no idea just how cool the terrain pieces were going to be until he got them to put together and got a chance to check them out. The idea of push-fit is even better for terrain than models, because it lets you change the layout and take it apart if you ever have to move. Some of them even have separable floors so you can change the size for models to hang out on top.
Ruins aren’t the only thing you get in the box either! You get a whole host of pipes and what not to add flavor to your battlefield and have some obstacles. These are also push-fit but it doesn’t seem super worthwhile to have half of a pipe laying around on the battlefield. But, if you want, you can.
These new minis look great, give you good value, and are super easy to build! We can’t wait to see what creative ideas you hobby maniacs have in store for these new releases!
