Don’t miss these spicy rumors about everything that may be coming next in the Psychic Awakening, from Fulgrim to Death Guard, Necrons and everything in between!
Some pretty bold rumors were spotted over on DakkaDakka, but the source is a “friend that works at GW” so remember to take it all with a grain of salt. However, there are too many reasonable claims to just be dismissive as well.
Take a look at what might be lying ahead for Warhammer 40k and the Psychic Awakening…
What’s Next in Psychic Awakening: Fulgrim, DG, Necrons RUMORS
Going into the rumors headfirst:
Essential Hobby Products & Tools List
These are what the next releases are going to be in order, we’re going to get an official confirmation at Adepticon.
Unnamed Book (Working Title “The Deathmarch” Deathguard, Crons, and Deathwatch
Talons of the Emperor book (Name subject to change) Sisters, Talons (replacing custodes, next custodes book will just be Talons) and Harlies, sets up the next big conflict which is…The War of the Spider
Every faction represented, most with very little (A relic or wlt, tops, most just get fluff) the Emperors Children beseige Terra, ushering in Fulgrim (we will get a tease of his model at the end of Adepticon). The book will function as “Index: Emperors Children”. A lot will be carried over from Faith and Fury but expanded to be equivalent to DG and T Sons.
Will NOT have Fulgrim, he will come with his rules when he is released and shortly after the start of 9th a true EC dex with his rules will be released.
New Noise Marines on their way, new “Primaris” equivalent coming, created by Fabius.
Not all the new units will have datasheets in War of the Spider, they’re using this to justify the codex coming out a few months after the PA book. Will be much larger than previous PA books, lots of fluff. Closer to Vigilus than not, lots of narrative and campaign rules.
Full-fledged global campaign like at the start of 8th.
WOW, those were a lot of bold claims. It’s going to take some time to digest all of this, but it’s safe to say we’ve potentially got a ton of content looming over our heads in 40k.
Breaking Down Future Psychic Awakenings
We’re well into Psychic Awakening and there are still a bunch of factions to be covered. We know that Engine War will have Mechanicum/ Knights and their Chaos equivalent, while War of the Spider, the newly named Deathmarch, and Talons of the Emperor have also just been mentioned just about covering all the factions. Condensing everything that might be ahead, so far we’ve got all this on the table.
- Engine War: Knights & Mechanicum Vs. Chaos Knights & Dark Mechanicum
- The Deathmarch: Deathguard Vs. Necrons Vs. Deathwatch
- Talons of the Emperor: Sisters & Talons (which could replace Custodes) Vs. Harlequins
- War of the Spider: Every faction, EC bringing back Fulgrim

Now speaking of Fulgrim, this isn’t the first time we’ve ever heard about him coming into 40k…
Previous Fulgrim Rumors

This is at least the second time we’ve seen Fulgrim, or a creature matching his description, wantonly slaughtering guardsmen in 8th edition 40k lore:
Another Nod To Emperor’s Children

However, it could be that they were leaving a window open for more focused support to come later on. (Maybe in War of the Spider after all).
Remember too, there is a Death Guard, and Thousand Sons Codex books currently. An Emperor’s Children and World Eaters addition would complete the big four and give GW two more opportunities for new releases that are very desireable judging by the other new Chaos Marines in 2019.
- 2016: Magnus & The Thousand Sons
- 2017: Mortarion & The Death Guard
- 2018: 8th edition Codex Creep
- 2020: Fulgrim & The Emperor’s Children?
- 2021-beyond: Angron & The World Eaters?
Pointing back to the most recent Psychic Awakening rumors, the possibility of Fulgrim returning are appearing to be very real.
9th Edition Gets mentioned Again…

In case you haven’t been following along, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen rumors of 9th edition coming. We’ve actually had multiple sources say that it’s just ahead of Psychic Awakening.
Of course, we don’t know the future so we will have to keep looking toward the horizon for what gets previewed. Thankfully, we do have a way we can test the rumors. As soon as more Psychic Awakening books drop, if they are in the right order and match the titles for what was mentioned, we could fairly say that the things about Fulgrim/9th edition are also true.
With all of this covered, what are your thoughts on Chaos getting another Primarch? Would you like to see 40k’s content compressed into a new edition?
