It looks like Games Workshop just totally changed up what AoS Battletome books we’re actually getting heading into 2023.
During the Nova Open Previews, we saw a new roadmap for Age of Sigmar battletome books but it was quite different from what GW had put out only a few months earlier. However, it wasn’t to add more, they actually revised the timeline of two of the battletomes.
Let’s first check out the new roadmap and then see what armies are still left for 2023.
Games Workshop’s Revised AoS Battletome Roadmap
Back when the Nighthaunt and Daughters of Khaine books came out, they promised two books for “Summer” and four for “Autumn”, then finally ending with Slaves to Darkness.
However the Autumn release was split after the last preview, with two battletomes being moved to “Summer” and two staying locked into fall.
Here’s the new roadmap from Nova Open 2022:
So, while technically the next two books are set to release this Summer, that’s not really a big deal (other than the fact that they have technically until September 22nd, 2022 to release them).
Now, this roadmap seems to mean that before the end of the year, AoS will still be getting at least four books, with the Slave to Darkness battletome technically due before winter ends on March 20, 2023.
What AoS Battletome are Left for 2023 and Beyond?
These AoS battletome rumors go all the way back to the launch of Age of Sigmar 3.0 and the release of the Dominion box set.
First, for Order, we’ve been hearing about Seraphon for a while now. The rumor actually said it would be them versus Skaven, but since we saw a Sylvaneth vs. Skaven battlebox, they might have just been pushed back.
However, there have been plenty of rumors, so hopefully, we see them before too long into 2023. Or, the other option is Cities of Sigmar. However, GW just doesn’t seem to like that faction too much. So who knows when they will actually get a rework at this point…
Gloomspite Gitz
Again, this is about a 3-year-old book; with how much things have changed with AoS in that time, not to mention a new edition, they need a little bit of work. They are still performing okay but could use some reworks.
We’re unsure what new minis they will get, as their model line isn’t that old. Still, they will probably get a new champion or two or at least a few reworks.
Ogors
Let’s just say we are hoping this is true and that they get a rehaul on almost all of their minis! We don’t even care about the book so much, just the need for some new minis! S0rry gluttons, your time may have come…
A large portion of their units is from before the change over to AoS, meaning they haven’t been touched in years and years. This could be a massive overhaul, or if GW doesn’t feel like it, maybe they just redo a unit or two. Let’s just hope that’s not the case!
Beasts of Chaos
You know an army needs a rework when the pictures on the GW site for multiple box sets are still on square bases.
So, yeah, Beasts of Chaos seems to need a rework and new minis desperately! Maybe they and Ogors can come in a new starter box together with all-new minis! One can dream, but according to these rumors, we don’t have that long to wait until we know for sure…
