Warhammer Community pulled the curtain back on even more Heresy era Dark Angels that are on the way. Although this unit is for the Horus Heresy, (as of right now) these models are so unique that we could see them being used as Captains and Lieutenants in 40k as well. Take a closer look at these new Dark Angels and the rules they’ve shed some light on.
GW Previews New Horus Heresy Deathwing Models: Deathwing Companions

However, these guys have access to some dark-age tech that’ll blow your mind on the tabletop.
…the Deathwing Companions also have access to a unique item of wargear – the Cytheron pattern Aegis. This provides the bearer with a 4+ Invulnerable save against Shooting attacks, and a 5+ Invulnerable save against attacks in Melee. Alternatively, the Aegis can be deployed to give the entire squad those Invulnerable saves, and any enemy models engaging the squad in assault suffers a -1 Initiative penalty.
So whether you feel like escorting a valuable character or posting up right in the center of the battlefield, these guys are going to be deceptively tanky and have some gear to give them the slight upper hand.

Their Rules Make Them Brutal Against Small-Time HQ’s

Plus, they can all issue/accept challenges as if they were characters:
This dovetails nicely with the Companions’ Chosen Warriors special rule, which allows them to fight in a Challenge as if they were a Character.
With these guys previewed, Dark Angels are continuing to look better and better. From new S4 plasma that you can reroll in overwatch to these dudes being able to deploy an invuln and have enemies fight a -1 initiative, these Loyalists are beginning to get mean!
So how many of these guys do you think you’ll be running on the tabletop? Will they be a great wall to slow enemy pushes down?
