GW just revealed a sneak peek at some of the rules coming in the Pariah Nexus expansion coming to 40k Kill Team. Let’s check them out!
Warhammer Community released an article going over a couple of new rules on the way with the next Kill Team expansion. Let check out the new rules and any context you may have previously missed from the online preview in mid-January.
Kill Team Pariah Nexus Expansion
This brand new Kill Team expansion is on the way, which is great because it has been a while since Kill Team got some love, but bad because the Heavy Intercessors are now locked behind a ‘Starter Set Paywall’ at least in the near term.
You can tell the setting is in the Pariah Nexus, which we just visited in the Psychic Awakening campaigns.

You’ll be able to find out the answers when Kill Team: Pariah Nexus drops later in the year. While you wait, take a look at the full (and we mean FULL) contents of the boxed set.
The kit also includes all of the rules to use the models from the Indomitus boxed set in your games of Kill Team, including Assault Intercessors and Necron Warriors armed with gauss reapers.
As we can see looking at the contents, these are all models we knew were coming. Most of these were announced back during the launch of the 9th edition, however, we know now that they will be released in this box. The addition of more rules for the Kill Team is also encouraging.
New Kill Team Pariah Nexus Rules Spotted
Using a suite of narrative effects – which can be used in any of your Kill Team missions – everything from strange glyphs on the ground to the very walls themselves can take on a life of their own. Often, this will be highly unpleasant for anyone unlucky enough to be stood nearby when, say… a swarm of nano-scarabs is unleashed.
The idea of terrain conflicting with your forces because they are in an area they aren’t welcome in is awesome! Not only does it add a huge level to narrative playing, but it also helps you flex your strategic muscles. This rule could increase the speed of games a tad, meaning it’ll be easier to squeeze in a quick game with some buddies.
This rule also helps speed up the game by letting your troops shoot and smack better while near the objectives, which you’ll want to do anyway!
These effects are randomly determined before the start of the first turn, so what might be a mere trinket in one game can suddenly become a dangerous threat in the next. Who knows, you might even gain the ability to shape the ever-changing terrain to your own will…Â
The fact like each of these effects (and presumably more) is chosen randomly at the start. This means it’ll be harder to metagame and keep games fresh/fun for everyone involved, even some of our super competitive friends.
