The Lorescape BattleTech terrain is here, bringing real elevation to existing maps through Kickstarter with Catalyst-licensed hex tiles.
Until now, decent BattleTech terrain usually meant running a 3D printer all weekend or cutting hills from foam. Lorescape’s modular terrain is licensed by Catalyst Game Labs and built to sit directly on the official maps players already own.
With the new BattleTech core rulebook and more starter boxes already in players’ hands, official terrain feels like a natural addition. Unfortunately, it’s also been a missing part of the line from retail for years, until now!
The Lordscape BattleTech Terrain Kickstarter launches tomorrow, October 15th, 2026, so sign up for notifications now, because nearly as many people are following this campaign that followed the Space King Kickstarter, which raised nearly $10 million.
So the Lorescape BattleTech terrain looks to be something that’s going to be pretty high interest for a lot of tabletop wargamers.
Lorescape BattleTech 3D Terrain Puts Elevation on the Table
- Price: Not announced yet (to be revealed ahead of the Kickstarter)
- Status: Coming to Kickstarter on October 15th 2026; with delivery in mid-2027
- Retailer: Lorescape (made and fulfilled in Poland)
- Contents: Modular UV-printed hex tiles across grass, tundra, desert, and lunar environments, plus rocks, barren ground, and vegetation pieces
- Designed for: BattleTech, Classic and Alpha Strike, on official maps and neoprene mats
- Benefits: Physical elevation you can read at a glance, officially licensed, injection-molded ABS durability
Now, instead of checking printed numbers to see whether a hex is Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3, players can read the elevation directly from the table, which should also make lines of sight a lot easier to judge.

Officially Licensed is the Part Nobody Else Has Had Yet

A license doesn’t guarantee better terrain, but it should help the graphics fit the maps instead of clashing with them. Which is a noticeable upgrade when the terrain is sitting on top of a printed board or mat.
Four Battlefields, From Grass to the Surface of the Moon

Because the system is modular, players can also rebuild the table for each game instead of buying one fixed board. Plus, changing environments also gives the battlefield a different look without affecting the rules.
Final Thoughts on the Lorescape BattleTech 3D Terrain

But if the finished terrain matches the product shots, it could become a common sight at BattleTech game nights. The price, however, will ultimately decide whether it’s a go-to upgrade or something most players admire from across the table.
