eBay Miniature Rescues is back again with another video tutorial, and this time he’s rescuing the Primarch Mortarion!

Rescuing the Primarch Mortarion: eBay Miniature Rescue
This is the mini he drew inspiration from for his own paint job. He’s not going quite so blue but likes the darker color scheme for the wings and black robes.
Painting the Wings
He primes the wings white and then lays down some black ink to get the shadows. Next, he hits the wings with Golden’s Purple Ink from the bottom up. He then hits the wings from the top down with Fluorescent Pink, just picking out the highlights and keeping the color towards the top.
that, he goes back to the white, and hits some highlights, like the top of the wings, the holes in the wings, and anywhere you feel necessary. He hits the entire thing with a contrast Aethermatic Blue. To finish the wings off he takes a big makeup brush and does a pink flesh tone in a light dry brush.
Painting the Armor
He has already primed the armor white to start. First, he does a brown enamel wash and covers everything other than the wings then takes it off with mineral spirits. This really gives you a rust feel. This is like painting in reverse, where you slowly take the brown pigment off to reveal the white underneath.
He dries it with a hairdryer to speed up the process. He then takes a small brush with silver, and does little spots to make it look like little bits of clean metal are poking through. After that, he comes with a mix of green, white, and a rusty orange and weathers where he feels it needs it.
Hitting the Details
For the face, he uses off whites to give a dead flesh feel. And then finishes it off with Aethermatic Blue, purple, and blue dots for the eyes. For the cloak, he highlights all the edges with pink, paints the insides purple, and then finishes it off with the same pink through the airbrush and a purple wash on the whole thing.
There you have it, this mini took him about 5 hours and it came out great!
