Saturnine Terminators Get Command Squad Bits From PGTM

saturnine bits pop goes the monkey

These Saturnine Terminators bits from Pop Goes the Monkey will get your models looking like a proper command squad in no time.

Your Saturnine Terminators already look tough, but what if you want them to stand out as your Praetor’s personal bodyguard? That’s where some bigger melee weapons, banners, and extra armor details can really make the squad look the part.

Pop Goes the Monkey has a new Dominion Squad Kit for exactly that. Sculpted by Red Warden Miniatures, that turns a standard four-man Saturn box into a melee command squad.

And it’s not just one kit, either. A bunch of kits dropped between October 8 and October 11, including two themed armor sets that give you two ways to build your command squad, depending on how much legion flavor you want.

Plus, if you saw their Invader-Pattern Saturnine Terminators earlier, you already know PGTM can make awesome Saturnine kits.

So the “Base kit” costs $40 and comes with weapons and armor. But if you want something more specific to your legion, grab the $24 Naked kit and add a $22 Norse Wolf or Spiked Wing Gem armor kit. For $46 total, you get the same weapons with themed armor, and you don’t have to sculpt all those extra details yourself.

One thing worth checking before you order: every version has parts for five models, with four matching armor sets and a commander set. The Saturnine box they’re made for only comes with four guys, though, so you’ll need another body if you want to build the leader too.

Base: RW Saturn Terminator Dominion Squad Kit: $40

Dominion Squad Kit Honored Set armor for Saturnine Terminators

If you just want everything in click, the Base kit makes sense. Pick Blank, Elite, or Honored armor, and you get the same weapon options either way. There’s a Great Axe and a Massive Hammer, both with one-handed and two-handed grips, four wrist plasma guns, four wrist shredders, power fist detail options, four small back-mounted halos, a big handheld banner, and a back-mounted banner.

Dominion Squad Kit Blank Set armor for Saturnine Terminators

Dominion Squad Kit Elite Set armor for Saturnine TerminatorsIf you’d rather paint your own legion details, the Blank Set is worth a look. The four regular armor sets are plain, so you can go wild with freehand or decals, while the commander still gets decorated parts to help him stand out. You also get loyalist and traitor banner details, so it covers either side of the Heresy.

Naked: RW Saturn Terminator Dominion Squad Kit: $24

The Naked kit is pretty much what it sounds like. You’re getting all the weapons and banners from the Base kit, just without the armor, and saving $16. Already happy with how your Saturnine squad looks? Great, this lets you swap out the weapons without buying armor you don’t need. It’s also made to work with the themed armor kits below.

Red Warden Miniatures Dominion Squad Kit for Saturnine TerminatorsQuick hobby heads-up, too. These are Monkey Resin 3 parts, so you’ll need super glue. Plastic glue isn’t going to work here. For removing the supports, PGTM says a five-minute soak in hot tap water should loosen them up. And for anyone printing at home, PGTM says Red Warden may offer the STLs directly.

Norse Wolf: RW Saturn Terminator Armor Kit (Runic): $22

Wolf heads, runic trim, yeah, you can probably guess which legion this one’s for. If your Horus Heresy wolves are still running around in generic Saturnine armor, here’s a $22 way to give them the right look.

Red Warden Miniatures themed armor kit for Saturnine TerminatorsInside, you’ve got shoulder pads, a belt and loincloth, and a chest plate for four Terminators, plus alternate parts for the commander and custom powered fists. Just remember, there aren’t any other weapons included. That’s why you’d pair it with the Naked kit if you’re building a full themed command squad.

Spiked Wing Gem: RW Saturn Terminator Armor Kit: $22

The Spiked Wing Gem kit is a different look altogether. You’ve got spikes, wings, and gems worked into the armor. PGTM has this one tagged for the Emperor’s Children, and you can absolutely picture these guys standing behind an Emperor’s Children Praetor.

Spiked Wing Gem armor kit parts for Saturnine TerminatorsYou’re getting the same basic armor parts as the Norse Wolf kit: shoulder pads, belt and loincloth, and chest plate for four models, plus an alternate commander set and custom fists. Pair it with the Naked kit for that same $46 total, only this time you’ve got a whole bunch of pointy details for your drybrush to pick out.

Final Thoughts on the Saturnine Terminators Dominion Squad Kits

If you’ve got a half-built Saturnine Command Squad on the shelf, these kits make finishing it a lot easier. The Base kit keeps everything simple with armor and weapons together, while the Naked kit and themed armor let you lean harder into your legion’s look. Either way, your Praetor finally has a bodyguard that looks the part.

And there could be more themes coming. PGTM says it already has a whole range of themed RW Saturn armor kits, and with the Mk3 Saturnus-Pattern Terminators and four new kits arriving soon, it sure doesn’t look like Norse Wolf and Spiked Wing Gem are where things end.
