1st Place: Jeffrey Kolodner – Sisters of Battle Army Lists
At the Goonhammer Open, the Sisters of Battle showed up in force and left nothing but burning heretics. This wasn’t faith alone; it was precision, armor, and a cast of characters that could double as a cathedral’s murder committee.
Leading the procession: a Canoness, an Imagifier, Junith Eruita, Morvenn Vahl, and two Palatines. Morvenn Vahl took the wheel and ran through problems, Junith floated through fire like it was incense, and the rest passed out buffs and judgment like pamphlets on a street corner.
Two squads of Battle Sisters handled the fundamentals. They grabbed points, got in the way, and didn’t ask for much in return. Immolators chauffeured them around in flaming style, part APC, part rolling relic that would help other units ignore cover.
Castigators laid down suppressive fire early, while Mortifiers and Paragon Warsuits went in for the finishing blows. Mortifiers brought the saws. Paragons brought everything else. Melee threats with a side of tank plating and a sprinkle of divine fury.
Celestian Sacresancts stood their ground with shields and stubbornness, perfect for keeping characters safe and lines held. Novitiates filled out the list with cheap bodies, eager to prove themselves by running into gunfire and maybe even surviving.
And for the final twist? A Callidus Assassin. Slippery, stabby, and always waiting to punish that one character who thought they were safe.
2nd Place: Jack Murphy – Leagues of Votann Army Lists
3rd Place: Zach Point – Thousand Sons Army Lists
Final Thoughts on Army Lists
At the Goonhammer Open, it seems like the Sisters of Battle brought both the holy fire and tactical finesse. The Leagues of Votann showed that even the stoutest warriors have a flair for strategy. While the Thousand Sons were there to remind us that sometimes, the arcane is just as deadly as a well-placed bolter shot.
Studying these winning army lists and understanding how their tactics work together can provide valuable insights for improving your own strategy. It’s a smart way to up your own 40k game!
