9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players are taking lists with units that nobody was expecting. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This just goes to show us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.
Top Homebrew 40k Army List: 2021 Michigan GT

2021 Michigan GT: Joshua Minnich – Nurgle

Be’lakor is just so good for his points and if you can protect him, he can demolish in melee! While Epidemius has always been a good character, the Nurglings of course can sit on objective or tie up ranged units thanks to their innate hardiness.
The second detachment is an Outrider led by a Malignant Plaguecaster, which is an all-around great psychic support piece for any Nurgle list. The rest of the list is comprised of 3 Foetid Bloat-drones, 3 Myphitic Blight-haulers and 2 Plagueburst Crawlers.
The Drones serve as fantastic melee threats that can beal very similar damage to daemon princes, meaning they will tear up most targets if allowed to. The haulers are mobile weapon platforms with tons of ranged shots every turn making them pretty reliable. Lastly, the Crawlers are tried and true as great harassment tools that get to pump out shots across the board all game long for consistent damage.
Overall this list offers a unique approach, but we like it because of their all-in on an aspect of their faction in a response to the meta.
Even better they got decent results from the player who piloted it! It’s also very encouraging when a player is able to play a previously widely considered “underpowered” army or list style so effectively.
