Agreement to these terms
These terms govern your use of Video Comment Responder, operated by Spikey Bits. By connecting a YouTube channel to the tool, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not connect a channel.
What Video Comment Responder is
Video Comment Responder reads comments on a YouTube channel you manage, drafts a suggested reply to each one that nobody has answered, and puts those drafts in a document on your own computer for you to review. It posts only the replies you have personally approved.
It runs on your computer. We operate no servers and hold no copy of your data. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what data the tool sees and what happens to it.
Who may use it
You may use Video Comment Responder only if all of the following are true:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You own the YouTube channel you connect, or you have Owner or Editor permission on it.
- You have authority to publish replies in that channel’s name.
Do not connect a channel you do not have the right to reply on.
YouTube API Services
Video Comment Responder uses YouTube API Services. By using it, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
Google’s handling of data obtained through those services is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
You can revoke this tool’s access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Your responsibilities
Every reply the tool posts is one you approved. You are the author and publisher of those replies, and you are responsible for their content in the same way you would be if you had typed them yourself.
Read what you approve. The tool drafts suggestions from examples you supply; it can be wrong, and approving a draft without reading it is your risk, not ours.
You are responsible for keeping your own credentials and access token safe on your machine, and for complying with YouTube’s community guidelines and spam policies in everything you post.
Acceptable use
Do not use Video Comment Responder to post spam, harassment, deceptive content, or anything unlawful. Do not use it to impersonate anyone. Do not attempt to automate approval or otherwise defeat the review step.
What we do not do
The tool does not post anything you have not approved one reply at a time. It does not delete comments, moderate, hold comments for review, rate or like anything, or change your videos, captions or channel settings. There is no automatic mode and no setting that enables one.
No warranty
Video Comment Responder is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any draft it writes will be suitable. YouTube may change or restrict its API at any time, which may stop the tool from working.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spikey Bits is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of Video Comment Responder, including lost revenue, lost audience, or action taken against your channel as a result of replies you approved.
Stopping
You can stop at any time. Remove the tool’s access at myaccount.google.com/permissions and delete the token file from your folder. It immediately loses all ability to read or post anything.
We may suspend or end access for anyone using the tool in breach of these terms.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Continuing to use the tool after that means you accept the change.
