2 New Plastic Leviathan Dreadnoughts For Horus Heresy

plastic-leviathanYou read right, a brand new plastic Leviathan Siege Dreadnought is coming for both Horus Heresy and Warhammer 40k!

We actually didn’t hear too many rumors about this one so having some confirmation from GW is awesome. Just like with all the recent releases for HH (other than the upgrades) this is going to be plastic, so it looks like there is real potential that all the new dreads and vehicles will all be plastic as well.

Maybe more importantly though, they also say they will give the model 40k rules!  Which is just great to see.

Heresy Thursday

Warhammer Community revealed the Dreadnought along with what weaponry you can equip it with.

So while the initial price is a little higher than we had hoped (but expected), this has some great value, and you get more than 100% of the box price in value. Plus, you just get so many minis!

New Horus Heresy Plastic Leviathan Dreadnought!

These massive Dreadnoughts were secretly developed on Terra in the latter days of the Great Crusade, away from the prying ocular lenses of the Mechanicum. And no wonder – you don’t want this kind of firepower getting into the hands of your rivals. Fortunately, the Emperor only issued the design to those he trusted. Y’know, like Horus.

Any kits we see going to plastic, we’re happy about.

Leviathon Dread

This is the first time these walking heavy weapons platforms have been available in plastic, and the wait has been truly worth it. Sporting far heavier armour and even bigger guns than the already-intimidating Contemptor Dreadnought, the Leviathan truly lives up to its name.

If you can’t tell by looking at it, obviously, this is like the heavy version of the Contemptor with not only bigger guns, but plenty more armor as well, and we expect that to come in the way of more wounds and toughness.

Leviathon Dread 2

This battlefield colossus will be here to tear up the battlefields of the 31st Millennium in terrifying style very shortly. You’ll also be able to get rules to use it in your games of Warhammer 40,000, for while Leviathans are rare in the 41st Millennium, some are still knocking around and making a proper nuisance of themselves…

While they don’t give an exact release date, getting a dual-use kit is always awesome. Especially if you’re spending hobby dollars, you want it usable for as many things as possible. Just be sure to magnetize this one so you can future-proof it!

Leviathan Dreads In Plastic: New GW Horus Heresy Reveal

Another Leviathan Dreadnought is coming for the Horus Heresy, as GW also revealed the plastic close combat model for Age of Darkness.

Rare even at the height of the Horus Heresy, these armoured death-dealers stride inexorably through incoming fire, smashing enemy lines at the closest of quarters.

You may realize that this model is only featured as the Siege variant, which looks to be true for the release so far. This is only the melee-centered variant, not any of those large ranged weapons which we already saw here.

Leviathan Siege Dreadnought

There are siege claws for churning up infantry, whether they’re in power armour or terminator armour, and siege drills to break through hardened tank hulls.

If anything is left standing after all that, why not roast and toast them with the in-built heavy flamers? These can be exchanged for twin-linked volkite calivers if you prefer a more oblique weapon of mass destruction. Just like its ranged brethren, it also has the option to pack in a carapace-mounted phosphex discharger to add white-hot insult to searing injury.

As an armored-melee machine, this big boy is sure to make easy work of the marine-rich environment of Horus Heresy. That being said, people seem to gravitate more towards the ranged variants, so maybe GW will give the melee variant some love closer to release.

Leviathan Siege Dreadnought details

We’ll be seeing this hulking monstrosity hit the front lines a little bit before the long-range version. You’ll also be able to pick up the melee weapon kit separately should you wish to mix and match loadouts, while a similar kit full of massive guns will be released on its own in the near future.

Speaking of range, they have said that it will release before too long, but this melee variant is your first chance at the model. Part of the greatness of this kit has always been the variety of loadouts and ease of quick swapping the parts.
