BREAKING: New Forgebane Box Set SPOTTED

knight titan wal horToday we’re getting an announcement from Games Workshop of the upcoming Forgebane box set that is pitting Mechanicus VS Necrons, and it’s featuring the new Knight Armiger!

Games Workshop just announced the upcoming Forgebane box set and we’re extremely excited about the release. Let’s take a look at some of the contents and see what they had to say about the upcoming release.

Whether you’re just getting started and looking for a way into the 41st Millennium, curious to start an Adeptus Mechanicus or Necrons army, or just want to pick up some new units to ally with your existing force, Forgebane is for you.

You might recognise the Knight Armiger Warglaives and Necron Cryptek with a distinctive Canoptek cloak from our preview at the Las Vegas Open. The Necron Cryptek is the first to be made of plastic and features a nifty new piece of wargear that allows them to skim above the battlefield and repair your units.

We get a great look at the contents of the box here, and it looks like the following will be included:
Mechanicus forces:
10x Skitarii
1x Techpriest Dominus
2x Armiger Warglaives

Necron forces:
1x Cryptek
5x Lychguard
5x Immortals
3x Canoptek Wraiths

Meanwhile, Knight Armiger Warglaives are a new, lightweight class of Imperial Knight, piloted by Knights in training, lesser members of noble households or just commoners with an uncanny knack for mechanised warfare. It’s the job of these smaller Knights to range ahead of their brethren and annihilate any threats – in particular, shearing through enemy vehicles or tank-hunters with the thermal spear and reaper chain-cleaver.

These guys will fit into your Lord of War slot neatly, and make both the perfect accompaniment to an Imperial Knight you already own and a powerful option in their own right for any Imperium army. They’re ideal for filling a Super-heavy Detachment – this duo and one of our standard Imperial Knights isn’t just a powerful force on the battlefield, but also nets your army three Command Points.

The new Forgebane box set looks like it’s going to be must-have for Mechanicus and Necron players. As of now, we’re not seeing a release date, just that it will be “out soon”.

Furthermore, we also got a look at the display of the Forgebane box set and its contents were spotted over on Blood of Kittens, and it has the hype train growing. Let’s take a look at the new Mechanicus VS Necron box set and see if we can’t make out what’s inside.

Forgebane Contents

This looks like a standard setup for a Games Workshop display, which leads us to believe that this was supposed to be the big reveal during the big GW event that was supposed to be held at Warhammer World over the weekend but didn’t due to inclement weather. The Grand Cash of Shadespire however, did happen, as you can see below left in the content image.

Forgebane Back

This announcement and preview just gives more credit to a rumor we recently saw about four new Knights.

I think the amiger/helliger are separate boxes, but only a few weeks apart.

Same for the Castellan/Valiant.

But again, I’m extrapolating from a quick look at a release schedule.

So we’ll see.

As I said elsewhere, I think we’ll see the amiger/s in the box set and the Knight army release later

Four new Imperial Knights would definitely be a pleasure to see for Warhammer fans. But can this rumor be trusted? It’s already partially right, the Armiger is going to be in the boxset. Can we expect to see the Knight army starting soon as well?

Drop us a line in the comments below and let us know what you think about the Forgbane box set. Are you going to be picking up a copy for yourself? Or do you just want the new Knight Armiger out of it?
