Games Workshop has brought back a classic miniature to commemorate Black Library’s celebration. Gregor Eisenhorn kit

A quick note before jumping into the review. At the time of writing, this kit is currently sold out on Games Workshop’s site. This kit may be available locally, so call around and scoop him up quickly if you can. The kit itself retails for $35, comes with its own rules, and has a downloadable PDF scenario as well. Now, this is finecast which has been bemoaned by many. However, this kit differs in that the molds used were designed for the finecast material specifically. The detail is crisp and a piece or two may need some warm water to bend back into proper shape.

Gregor Eisenhorn assembled

Fully assembled and the detail really does come together nicely. You simply cannot achieve this level of detail with plastic. There were no serious issues when it came to assembling this kit. You are going to have to take your time clipping out the runestaff’s top portion from the sprue. Make sure your blade is sharp or use a tight pair of flush cutters. Be aware that you will have to assemble most of the model before you start painting.

Rob also covers Eisenhorn’s rules and his final thoughts on this kit in his full review video below!

The Inquisition is the most powerful organisation of the Imperium’s many branches. Its agents, the Inquisitors, command fear and respect in equal measure. They are creatures of myth as much as flesh and blood, relentless beings who descend from on high to pass judgment upon the mutant, the traitor and the heretic. Known as a man of steely resolve and purity of willpower, Gregor Eisenhorn is a legendary Inquisitor, who in his career has moved from the ideology of the Puritan to that of the Radical – a journey which has led to accusations of heresy more than once, though Eisenhorn has always proved himself to be naught but righteous. Those who have crossed Eisenhorn’s path and lived are seldom eager to invite his attention again.

This multi-part resin kit contains the components necessary to assemble Eisenhorn. The miniature depicts Eisenhorn in his younger days – high cheekbones, a glorious jawline and slicked hair frame an imperious Inquisitorial scowl. He carries a variety of the tools with which he carries out his solemn duties – an artificer bolt pistol in his right hand, a runestaff slung across his back with Inquisitorial scroll cases and an electrobane grenade hanging from it, along with his sword, Barbarisater, sheathed and attached to his belt. A further Inquisitorial scroll case is clutched in his left hand, and he bears an Inquisitorial seal around his neck – this is topped with an aquila, making the model a veritable showcase of Imperial iconography. There’s even a purity seal on the left shoulder of his ornate armour/cloak combo. The base features a sculpted, cracked Inquisition symbol over which Eisenhorn is stepping with purpose and determination – signifying his journey from Puritan to Radical. Bolter shells and a horned skull also feature on this base.

Eisenhorn comes as 10 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 32mm Round base.

The Eisenhorn kit is available now online and in local Games Workshop stores. Be sure to press play on our quick and dirty review video below for the full product breakdown.

Editor’s Note: In the video recording I totally missed the part about the Daemonhost being able to drop in next to Eisenhorn, and the fact he would be a character and have buffs and such. So for 25 points, he seems pretty good, along with the Inquisitor himself who can get a WC 4 Auto rally psychic power that can def. do work with Guard.
