Spotted making waves around the web on Imgur and B&C by a user named Matt_149, the November White Dwarf Inquisition rules have been revealed. There’s a ton of info so we’ll be pulling out the highlights of the hottest changes.
Inquisition Rules From November White Dwarf SPOTTED
Starting off, one of the biggest changes to hit the faction is the fact that they don’t break Chapter Tactics, detachment abilities, Doctrines, etc. They also can be included in any Imperium keyworded detachment without taking up a slot. This is essentially the White Dwarf update the Officio Assassinorum got a few months back, except no Command Points are required to take them.
Speaking of CP’s:
Moving on, there are four all-new Stratagems for the faction.
- Cyclonic Torpedo comes at a whopping 4CP, but you can roll a D6 (-1 to characters) for each unit within 2D6″ of that point and get a chance to do D3 mortal wounds. It’s like a beefier Orbital Bombardment.
- Inquisitorial Mandate gives your Inquisitor a Warlord Trait if they aren’t the Warlord. But if they aren’t named, they can also take a relic for free as well. That’s a steal for 1CP.
- Seize for Interrogation comes at 1CP and lets you farm D3 CP back with a nice -1 Ld bubble around the Inquisitor. This is only once per battle, however.
- Requisition plays on the Inquisitors Quarry (Xenos, Hereticus, Malleus) and any units within 6″ that are about to shoot or fight can reroll hits of 1. They basically become a Captain for a phase.
As for relics, these are completely new to the Inquisitor line as well. Some of the cooler relics out of the list are The Tainted Blade. This is a souped-up power sword with a similar rule to Abaddon’s sword. But for each unsaved wound against this -3 AP sword, the bearer can make another attack.
Blackshroud is another sweet relic making your Inquisitor -1 to wound. That can be huge in tricky combats as he’ll be a tank that can tarpit for a bit. Especially if he’s got a decent invuln save to back him up.
For the Psychic tree, they added three more generic Psychic powers to the list as well as given each Ordo a special power.
Mental Interrogation lets you farm CP which will probably be one of the more popular ones. Psychic Pursuit turns off the character keyword which is also nice and has some niche uses against Plaguebearer screen/Psyker lists. And lastly, Castigation is a pseudo smite that plays on the enemy’s leadership.
Ascertainment can completely shut down enemy Chaos units making them -1 attack and -1 on all their hit rolls.
Psychic Veil protects Ordo Xenos units giving them a pseudo-character keyword as well as making them unchargeable unless the enemy is within 6″. If they’re within 6″, the charge is basically a guarantee at that point but at least it forces the enemy to come closer.
Power Through Knowledge gives all Imperium Infantry and Biker units within 12″ a 5++ invuln. This is basically what Feirros has now except it comes on a cheaper Inquisitorial platform now.
From Matt_149 on B&C, he covered the Warlord Traits for the Inquisitors in the White Dwarf.
- Radical – once per battle re-roll 1 hit roll, wound, damage, saving, psychic test or deny the witch for this warlord
- Puritan – improve inv by 1 to a max of 3++
- Formidable resolve – +1 LD and increase unquestionable wisdom by 6″
- Ordo hereticus no escape – heroic intervention within 6″ move 6″ instead of 3″. Enemy unit within 1″ falls back on a 4+ it can’t!
- Ordo Xenos esoteric law – whilst warlord is on the field roll one d6 each time opponent uses a strategem on a 5+ you gain 1 cp.– That is brutally efficient for anyone not wanting to play Guard with Kurov’s Aquilla.
- Ordo malleus psychic mastery – knows one additional psychic power from telethesia. Can manifest an additional psychic power and an extra deny.
Datasheets and points have also been revealed in the White Dwarf images as well so be sure to check them out for yourself. However, these are some of the biggest changes we’ve seen hit the faction for years! What do you think about Inquisitors now that we can slot them in for free?
