RUMORS: New 40k Orks Kommandos or Tankbustas

By Rob Baer | December 29th, 2020 | Categories: Orks, Warhammer 40k, Warhammer 40k Rumors

ork wal hor flash gitzThe 40k Orks rumors and previews have been flowing lately but could new Tankbustas or Kommandos be coming with a codex?

There were a ton of rumors around what the Orks “would be getting” with their Psychic Awakening book a year ago, but only a couple actually came to pass. But if they were working on the stuff back then, it would make sense that they could still come to pass.

Also, a lot of these rumors were saying it was going to happen in Q3 of 2020, but with everything slowing down, it only makes sense it didn’t happen then. Well, that and a new edition…

Ork Collectible CoinSince we’ve seen an Ork collectible coin, a preview of a new mini, a possible return to Armageddon, and Ghazghkull get a kit, it keeps looking better and better for Ork players!

Let’s look at the old rumors and see what did happen and what still could happen.

RUMORS: New 40k Orks Kommandos or Tankbustas

ghazghkullThe initial rumors came about this time last year, and while the usual support wave is a book for the faction involved and a new model, they may be getting more than just one kit.

And now new rumors seem to suggest that Orks will get their time in the spotlight after Dark Eldar and Dark Angels, but with the slowdown in production, it could be fairly late into the year. Here’s everything the old rumor said we could be seeing:

  • New Ork Codex (Could easily be April/May)
  • Possibility for new plastic Ghazghkull (This one did happen so it gives the rest of the rumors some legs to stand on)
  • Plastic Tankbustas (There have been some Rumor Engines supporting this theory)
  • A couple of other plastic Ork kits (Possibly Kommandos?)

Proof of New Tankbustas/ Kommandos (or both)?

Indomitus day ork 2

Indomitus day ork 1GW was very hesitant, back in July, to reveal too much of the new Ork mini and we had heard whispers from last year that the Orks would be getting plastic Tankbustas (or Kommandos).

It would make total sense then that GW didn’t want to reveal too much of this mini and just give it all away. it would be very easy to tell if it was a Kommando OR a Tankbusta from the rest of the miniature right?

The other part of that rumor was that they were getting Ghazghkull, which has already come to pass.

orktober speedwaaagh speed freeksIn the realm of plastic kits, there have been certain rumor engines that make us think something Orky is on the way. Now with all the additional previews, new kits look very likely!

Hopefully, they keep on the path and we see a bunch of new releases with their coming Codex!

Do you think they could get a big update? Which units do you want to see the most?
